Someone should ask Lautenberg that if he falls in the polls, who is on deck?

OMG, you're right! I think that could probably be done, but I doubt the rats would appoint Torrecelli; there are plenty of loyal rats they could choose who would be just as bad for the country.

It is simple, we need more people believing in freedom, traditional values and the rule of law.

As long as "independents" can be bought off by socialist lies and weak-on-national-security policies cloaked as "caring", we will be underdogs.

LOL . . . Get him in a press conference and ask him an identically-worded question every five minutes or so to let the audience see just how many totally different, contradictory, and befuddled answers he comes up with.

How would that play out if the SCOTUS takes the case but renders the decision after the election? Please tell us more.

What's needed is to get Rudy out campaigning for Forrester. He needs to stress the dishonor of what was done and how he expects the good people of NJ to react to that kind of dishonor.

The small number of people sampled makes this poll worthless.

I think this sheds any doubt that those who claim themselves to be independent are nothing more than a bunch of ignorant morons

In New Jersey they define an independent as a Democrat that only voted twice in the last election.

be patient apillar. Can't really know the truth from these early polls. In any case, if it becomes clear Forrester is losing all he needs to do is bow out and the gop can throw in a pinch hitter--Even right up to election day. I'm thing Tom Kean. Was a popular governor and honest. If the dems want to live by the sword they can die by the sword.

The poll contacted 601 likely voters by telephone Thursday and Friday using randomly generated phone numbers in exchanges

"The small number of people sampled makes this poll worthless".

....and the fact it was randomly selected phone numbers makes it even more worthless and i might add, which phone exchanges were used would add to the poll being very biased

If Toricelli quits inside the 51 day limit with voting(absentee) already in play, does his leaving the election constitute a concession? If so, are the rats allowed to continue?

I now expect the US SC review of the NJ Torricelli decison to play out exactly the same as my efforts for John Anderson, independent candidate for President in 1980. I advised Anderson in advance of his decision to bolt the Republicans and run as an independent, to make his decision by 23 April, 1980, and that all the ten state laws which made it illegal for an independent to run as of then, would be struck in court as unconstitutional.

Anderson made his jump on that date. All those state laws WERE struck. Anderson lost the election, receiving about 5% of the vote. Here's the parallel:

The US SC took up the question of whether the state laws violated the First Amendment rights of Anderson and his supporters AFTER the election. It was not until 1983 that the US SC ruled that Anderson was correct, and those state laws were unconstitutional.

I now expect the US SC to do much the same thing concerning the Torricelli case from NJ. I expect them to decide the case AFTER the election, against Torricelli (and all other state courts which might consider rewriting their state election laws), and to do so well before the 2004 election, to cut off at the pass any future decisions like Fla and NJ.

Congressman Billybob: I have a question........there is a case to be heard tomorrow in the federal (circuit?) court about the absentee ballots. If this court rules that the rules cannot be changed in the middle of the game, does that free-up the USSC from having to act at all? Simply put: my question is, can only the SCOTUS over rule SCONJ?

The poll found 52 percent of voters had a favorable opinion of Lautenberg, a number Shea called "phenomenal," especially since the last time Lautenberg ran a statewide campaign was 1994.

Both campaign people were engaged in some spinning but this takes the cake. Carter, Reagan, and Bush 41 all have stratospheric favorables today and the public hasn't voted for any of them for ten to twenty years!

Relief for Forrester is needed now.......
After the election , Franky will be seating in the seat...

Ironically, Lautenberg's death may be the only way we could win now.LOL

It doesn't matter. The Dem's know Lautenberg will win and then he will quit. Then the governor will appoint whoever he wants to.
