The topic of how to get the Fresno and Columbia VFW Posts to join in has been on my mind. I'll throw a couple of suggestions out there for you all:

Print up a flier for their bulletin board inviting each veteran personally to come on down.

Include pictures of our Colorado VFW rally and promote it as a SUPPORT OUR TROOPS RALLY.

"We are just a bunch of ordinary patriotic Americans that get together to support our troops".

Let them know that pictures are e-mailed to the troops and show them pictures of Just Amy's shirt!

Ask them to wear those good looking hats they have.

I firmly believe that at each VFW and American Legion Post that there has to be a couple of veterans that want to show support for our troops. The Fort Collins rally started just that way, a couple of veterans.

But whatever you do, don't promise them cookies!

Gosh, I thought the cookies from Mama_bear would be just the thing. All she has to do is prepare about 200 of them and keep JK out of the barrel on the way to the FReep! LOL

The ideas you presented were definitely worth trying and just might work. I have written to the State VFW asking for participation but no reply. Thanks TR for you assist! Keep Rolling!!!

Excellent ideas. Thank you!

BTW, chads, I have decided not to bring cookies next FRiday. Are you going to pout if I don't bring cookies? How about brownies instead? :-)

Thanks for the suggestions. These sound like they may work; we should hit all the small towns ie: Caruthers, Selma, Reedley; Easton, etc.
Is there anyone who will be available to help?
Thanks for all your support, Colorado. You are an inspiration! We will keep working on getting the word out!
FORT COLLINS FReepers Rock!!!

Can I promise them my famous brownies? It can't hurt since I never make them anyway!
Thanks for the suggestions, we will sure try them. Every week when I see your report I turn green with envy at your little band, and your fabulous turn out!

I've tried a similar tactic, but will try it this way next time. They'll eventually get tired of seeing me.
I will just keep going back.

Yes! I think this point in particular needs to be emphasized.

Example: "How would you like to have photos that show your VFW (American Legion, etc.) members supporting our troops to be posted on internet webpages THAT ARE READ BY OUR TROOPS OVERSEAS AND ARE A GREAT ENCOURAGEMENT TO THEM?"

The VFW post here has a computer with a modem line and a printer in a back room, and I've seen them printing off the Fort Collins Freep thread to pass around.

Another good point I just thought of, especially to hit home with the 50-something vets:
"Remember the protestors 30+ years ago who spit on returning vets? Remember how nobody bothered to go out there to stand up against them? Well, those peaceniks are still around! They're 30 years older now but no smarter (dumber actually). And they're still out there on the street corners - right here in town, in fact. And they would be very happy if they were the only ones out there on that street, and they got their pictures taken by the local rag, and it got clipped and sent to soldiers overseas who are putting their lives on the line for our country. Well, this time around there are a small number of us who are determined to stand up to them. But we're outnumbered and we need your help"
