GUILIANI REPORTEDLY A FINALIST FOR NOBEL PEACE PRIZE

Former Mayor Rudolph Giuliani is reportedly a finalist for this year’s Nobel Peace Prize.

The Daily News reported Saturday that the Nobel Committee has already voted on this year's recipient of the prestigious award, and Giuliani is said to be on the short list of potential winners. However, the former mayor hasn't been confirmed as a nominee.

According to the News, Giuliani, who was knighted by England’s Queen Elizabeth in a ceremony last year, was recommended for the $1 million prize because of his role in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 terror attack.

George W. Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair have also been nominated for the award, but some speculate they will not win in light of their campaign against Iraq.

When leftists speak well of Giuliani, it's because a) he's out of politics; and b) he's a good way to avoid complimenting George Bush.

They really, really don't want to credit Bush with rising to the occasion after 9/11, although he certainly did. So they credit Giuliani instead. That makes them look decently patriotic without promoting a politician they would love to destroy.

Which is not to say that Giuliani was not completely admirable in his behavior after 9/11. I'm just speaking about the liberal reaction to him. Before he dropped out of the Senate race, these folks couldn't speak a decent word about Giuliani. He was mean and racist. Now they think he's great. Yet he was always a splendid mayor of New York even before 9/11.

As much as I would love for Bush to get it they will never give it to him - they hate him and now they hate Tony Blair because he is allied with Bush. But if Bush or Guiliani gets it it will be a kick in the butt for the Clintons and I would love to see that.

He did have prostrate and went thru radical treatment right after he dropped out. It would have been hard for him to run a proper campaign while undergoing treatment.

Sure, he had prostate cancer - so did my dad. So did Norman Swartzkoff - and many others.

It is a pretty manageable disease. It is also one of the slowest growing cancers. Most men die of something else before prostate cancer does them in.

He could have won NY. No one really debates that.

He decided to use the prostate cancer as an excuse to bow out.

FBI files? Maybe, but Rudy would have carried upstate, as did Lazio, and he was hightly respected, even before 9/11, in the 5 boroughs.

The only thing that may stop a New York liberal from voting for someone is pederasty - maybe - and Rudy is not a pederast!

And neither one of them had to support terrorists to lobby for the darn thing. I'd spend the rest of the year, (after the Pubbies take back the Senate,) happy as a honeybee in a field full of clover.

Sorry to hear that but my dad is 10 years post radiation (no chemo) and at 80 years old, is doing just great. Thank God!

Naturally, it depends on what stage it is when it is first diagnosed.

As far as I know, Rudy had only the radiation, no chemo, which means it was diagnosed early. This also means he probably has a life span of 10 years from diagnosis - at the minimum.

Obviously, neither you nor I have any knowledge of the stage or severity of his prostate cancer.

All we can do is watch how he does in the ensuing years. Thus far, he has done admirably in his post prostate cancer treatment.

I would offer that what he did as Mayor of NYC, post 9/11, would have been far more stressful than as a Junior Senator from NY!

This is the same outfit that honoured Arafat, so that they'd by-pass Bush, Rummy,Cheney, Rice and the US Armed Forces, truly the peacemakers of this world, for a civic leader that used to be admonished for cleaning up the peace in Times Square, is surreal.But then again, so is the Nobel Prize.
