What a great read Pokey. Thanks for the ping!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading your reply. I found it very thoughtful and filled with insight. I agree with you that America "...is a set of beliefs about society, government, and man's relationship to them both." To your list I would add that America is also a belief about man's relationship to a living God.
The political left alienates many others with their tendency to discount the influence of God in their lives and the destiny of America. I believe in their hearts they are deeply fearful of the consequences of their alienation from America in this regard, and over compensate by actively attempting to scoff at and offend the religious majority. If the believers in America are deluded, they are wrong for a lifetime. If the non-believers are deluded, they are wrong for eternity.

There is a time for all to recognize that doing the RIGHT thing is no longer a choice.
It is an obligation.

Thanks for the Ping. Made my day.
Think I'll send the link to Bob Somersby (Daily Howler). He hates Noemie's guts.

(Maybe I have been underestimating him too...he keeps announcing that he is a patient man--time I started to believe him)
President Bush understands that his opponents include those who control most of the messages that Americans receive through their chosen reading, listening and viewing habits.
If he ever got into a 'You did so" "I did not" argument, it would become the centerpiece of all their swiping at him. Think Leno, Letterman, SNL, Simpsons, as well as NYT.
By not giving in to criticism, he totally takes away the power of his enemies.

"Michael Dukakis on a tank.
That's all I'm going to say about that."
One thing that amazes me is that Al Gore actually speaks in public.
I hope that he keeps it up.
It is so strange to see him.
It reminds me of that old James Bond movie where he stops the bomb just before it goes off.
How come the Democrats cannot see this?
Didn`t they ever watch those old movies?
They are in such a meltdown!
It is a thing of beauty.

Ping for a good read.

America is, at its heart, an ideology. It is a set of beliefs about society, government, and man's relationship to them both. I think you missed it slightly. The grand divide is that the liberal measures a man by his relationship to his government. A constitutional conservative, measures his government by its relationship to men.

Wonderful! But why can't ANYONE draw the man to look like himself? The attack cartoons, in their rush to insult President Bush, feature so dissimilar an image that I believe they actually lose the point. Even the art on this magazine doesn't resemble the President Bush I see.
Maybe someone clever could start a thread discussing what cartoonists are thinking when they draw our President.
This cover on the Weekly Standard is really nonrepresentational. Everything below the eyes is a different person! Bill Kristol has lots of teeth when he smiles, doesn't he? Or maybe the artist was dreaming of John McCain?

If they are so often trounced by an out-of-touch moron, then what does it say about them? From my observations, one of the self-destructive tendancies of self-described intellectual sophisticates is that they cannot believe that the vast majority of problems facing folks in the world can be dealt with by anyone with a bit of common sense. Believeing in their own superiority they struggle to deride the obvious and create their own supersophisticated fiction - so sophisticated that no one else could have thought it up. Then they cannot figure out why the world blows up in their face and the "plodding dolt" who just applies a bit of common sense wins out. I have seen very bright but otherwise clueless technology managers often very conservative in political bent commit exactly the same sins of hubris.

A great article, it spells out a lot of things most of us felt, but could not quite put a finger on.
One important thing the article did not mention was that election fraud has become a vital part of democRAT strategy. Do it in secret if you can, but do it openly if you must. Floriduh in 2000, and New Jersey in 2002 are being played out in public (with obvious behind-the-scenes scams) because the stakes are so high for the RATS.
I used to be disappointed that Bush never pursued legal actions againt the RATS for violation of federal election laws. But then I realized he feared, and rightly so, a civil war if any RAT, especially the klintons, was indicted. So the best he can do is make sure that light is always shined on these dirty deals, so people can at least observe these cockroaches in their natural habitat.

Thanks.....definitely worth a 'mega ping'!

Wonderful read. I'm sure that President Bush would want to credit the Lord for guiding him as he starts each day on his knees, and in the Word.
I thank Him daily for this wonderful President.

Great find, Pokey. Thanks for the ping. I've emailed it to some non-Freepers who will enjoy it as much as I did.

Great photo.
His appearance at the World Series came to my mind as well when I was reading this article.
Those who look down their noses at what they have conceived as the measure of this man simply do not see his greatness. Your photo (while recalling the pain, shock and fear in all of our hearts last October) says it all to MOST Americans.

OMG this is a great article. I haven't laughed so hard in years.

I agree with you...this article is a keeper! Haven't seen another that so clearly incapsulates what hit the democrats squarely between the eyes. It sure explains why little Tommy Daschle had such a temper tantrum on the senate floor. I thought his head would explode.
