Given the hijackers' MO of crashing a plane laden with fuel into a building, I suspect the target of the hijackers planning to take that flight from San Antonio would have been near San Antonio. I'm not sure this shows any Portland connection.

Shortly after 9/11, and after those two guys were arrested, I happened to be passing through the Newark Amtrak station. I stopped at the newstand where those two guys worked. I was looking for a newspaper from Italy or some other European country. The only foreign papers they had were two papers in Arabic.

He was also questioned about his contacts with Abdullah bin Laden at the US WAMY office.

Mr Al-Hazmi said that he had made phone calls to Abdullah bin Laden in 1999 trying to obtain books and videotapes about Islamic teachings for the Islamic Centre of San Antonio.

Steven Emerson on PMSNBC this morning said he is expecting more arrests in Portland, as the cell, including facilitators, is much larger than the six arrested. It'd be great if Vera Katz was taken out in handcuffs, but we know that will never happen -- it's more likely that she'll run for the Senate, since she seems like perfect Dem material for the job.

I'm starting to get the feeling at this level, we are not dealing with a massive amount of players in the entire USA. We keep seeing the same names pop up in certain areas and links to around the states.

Last year, when this broke loose re Mayor Katz of Portland offering protection and sanctuary for potential Islamakazis, I brought up the question/potential of future 9/11ers working out of Portland or controlled out of Portland.

The use of the internet, ability to go to the Portland Airport and fly anywhere or to rent a truck and drive it anywhere enables those in Portland to commit acts of terrorism or to control/finance it thousands of miles away.

They would be foolish to commit acts of terrrorism in or around Portland while it is/was a safe haven.

This is why Vera Katz and her fellow lusters for the Islamakazis are more dangerous to Americans who live hundreds or thousands of miles outside Portland.
