I'm sorry, I forgot...It's now considered BAD amongst you so-called "patriots" to support one's country in time of war, to respect one's Commander in Chief (OFFICIALLY, in my case), to call for the defeat of my (and your) enemies, and to condemn those who support them with the very rights I risk my life on a daily basis to protect.

That's right...the new definition of "patriotism" is to verbally slam your own country and its leadership while on an enemy's soil, to do all possible to weaken its resolve and fighting spirit in time of war, and to flat IGNORE more than 3,000 deaths. Oh, yeah, and to profess to be "offended" beyond words when someone suggests that you are really helping the enemy, regardless of what you intend, and to even question who the enemy IS.

And, lest we forget, to mistrust those who lead our OWN nation far, far more than those who have attacked it directly!

That is but a small list, which others can add to as they wish I'm sure, of the myriad ways one must upend all traditional notions of honor, patriotism, and loyalty in this new era of "Newthink" that you maniacs propagate. Saddam has been in power for 20 years. The first 10 ten years he was our "ally." Then he made the mistake in trying to take back Kuwait, which has traditionally been part of Iraq. For the last ten years we have been waging war against him. Only in the last six months has he been considered a threat, and that threat is propaganda. A google search of "Matthew Hogan" turns up an article "The 1948 Massacre at Deir Yassin Revisited," published by The Coalition for Justice in Israel/Palestine, wherein he is described as "Matthew Hogan is an independent scholar in Texas and the Middle East." This organization says "Welcome to the web site of the Coalition for Justice in Israel and Palestine, a Stanford University-based group whose mission it is to fight for the cause of Palestinian rights, self-determination and land in the occupied areas of Israel."

Funny thing about the bullets that are being fired at our guys over there, Greybird; they don't care whether you're a liberal or a "neocon", pacifist or warhawk, Republican or Democrat.
All they want to do is kill!
Every one of our military people serving today has a political opinion, but, first and foremost, they have a job to do.
We do also, whether you want to accept that responsibility or not.

As another thread pointed out today, our objective in any war is not to kill the enemy, but to convince the enemy that further fighting is futile.
Killing the enemy is a means to that end.

Our enemies have that same objective.
When you and your anti-war buddies throw the words of pacifism around, you have handed the enemy exactly what they want - a weapon that is more powerful than all the bullets being fired.
It's the weapon of will control.
