Yeah. 2 Whites, 2 Hispanics, 1 Black. 3 men, 2 women. About as random as you can get, I think. The Wash. Post has fairly detailed biographics of all the victims. Very very sad.

I don't know if it was terrorists, but from what I've read, it has to be someone who had some sort of advanced markmanship training. 5 people killed from far away with 1 shot each? Police couldn't do that. The average military person couldn't do that.

Also, if you look at terrorists, the only ones known for this sort of thing are the IRA. However, the IRA apparently does have some ties to some Palestinian groups, as well as Farc. So it wouldn't be a stretch if those ties went beyond those 2 groups.

Police departments maintain snipers who could easily shoot at 300 yards plus. The "average" military rifleman can also hit targets at such a range. Not such a high level of training with modern weapons.

Such as your average deer hunter.

Truly, hitting a human-sized target from 100 yards away
with a decent rifle is not that difficult a task.

That said, if this was just a "nut case" as the media
keep trying to say, they would be targeting specific
groups of people, depending on whatever sort of grudge
or fantasy they were working out.

If this is a sleeper cell getting active, just look at
how much panic they have caused with just 6 shots.

Maybe someone else in this thread has already pointed this out (I'm only up to post #5) but Mr. Walekar was ethnically Indian (from Asia).

Thanks,I couldn't have said it better. My first thoughts on this tragedy was it had to be someone of superior marksmanship with some sort of high powered rifle. A hand gun couldn't to this unless close range. And I'm not a fire arms expert. I agree not to jump to conclusions, but we are at war, this is a modus operandi of the terrorists - to create incidents of terror. Is it too much of a jump to connect some dots? Ummm.

It is sad, but I noticed most of the Compost article was about diversity.
