Breaking...Fox reporting 6th man shot last night at 9:15 pm...could be related....DUH!
To: two23
newly discovered victim or a shooting just occurred?
To: two23
The last time I seriously looked at hunting rifles was in high school in the early 60s. I believe the .223 was new then. That leaves 40 years of rifle models.

IS THERE A LINK TO NEBRASKA SHOOTINGS? I feel I must be hallucinating but this morning when I woke up I thought:
Last Thursday: 5 dead
This Thursday: 5 dead
I am sure they likely aren't related, and I don't want to be prone to conspiracy thoughts. But still, I don't believe the 'bank robbery' in Nebraska was much of a bank robbery.

"Maybe it's really paranoid of me, but I was wondering if the perp(s) might have been getting in some target practice, maybe getting ready for something else."
That thought occurred to me, too, when I heard that the Secret Service is assisting with the investigation.

"Now the police/authorities are asking citizens to call them and turn-in anyone they know that owns rifles." They did?

Another one last night?? There must be a news blackout on in that area.

I also heard it. These people are idiots.

I read further. Amazing!

The original was chambered in 54mm, so that the rifle could accept both Warsaw Pact and the NATO 7.62x51mm rounds. The 7.62x39mm round is a "civilian" version of the weapon and the round became popular here in the US. I have a rifle chambered in 7.62x39mm (Ruger Mini-30)... Nope. AK47 was designed around 7.62x39, 7.62x54 Russian is a 308/762NATO equivalent used in FSU medium machine guns and the SVD sniper rifle. It is not interchangeable with 308/7.62x51mm NATO.

"I was wondering about the FBI comment that the "ar-15 was a legal rifle to possess if it was manufactured before a certain date". Is this Maryland law? I don't live in MD, but maybe some else can clarify the laws there. I saw the LE spokesman at the press conference--he did not seem to be an expert on weapons..he kept looking to the people on his side for confirmation to what he was saying. I bet all the rifles that were set up on the table for the press were the personal rifles of the folks on the force!

Exit wound from a soft lead bullet. Bullet expands at impact and rips thru the body.
To: infowarrior
Where do you get your misinformation on caliberts? That is laughable.
To: two23
I am sure you can buy AR-15s in MD, I saw one in a store not long ago. I think he meant to say "AFTER a certain date" so it will only take mags for 10 rounds. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

"They should be looking for anyone who has "Guns&Ammo" magazines laying around their house."Yes, and post these guys on every street corner, so we can have some peace !

That's an insightful post. That sort of thing is why I come to FR.

I'm already hearing speculation that the shooter, who was skilled, may be a disgruntled white male "hunter" and probably a conservative to boot. They say the rifle was something a "hunter" might use.
