LOW BIRTH RATE PUTS CANADA ON ROAD TO PERDITION

TORONTO, October 2, 2002 (LSN.ca) - A prominent economics reporter with the Globe and Mail is one of the few Canadian opinion-makers to have said anything at all about the failure of Canadians to have children, historically a key sign of a doomed culture.

"Canadian couples are not having enough kids even to replace themselves -- and have not for more than three decades now." "So long as we Canadians don't replace ourselves, we put ourselves on a path that's almost impossible to alter," Little writes. In addition, he challenges the conventional wisdom (shared by all the federal political parties) that immigrants will somehow fill the gap: "More immigration won't change the underlying pattern," Little concludes.

did you know that Russia is running out of Russians?

I would assume that since so many Russians are showing up here that their numbers are decreasing over there. How do you know if Russians have moved next door? A clue is if their dog is named Natasha. Can't tell by their English, which is often above average for Americans.

Between infertility and abortion

You seem to have forgotten the most significant factor.

As I said above, "Giovanni Battista Montini was right!!!"

Of course, Giovanni Battista Montini is otherwise known as Pope Paul VI, best known for his encyclical Humanae Vitae, which predicted (prophecied?) all this mess in the first place.

Oh, alright. Actually, the root of that is selfishness.

As the whole thing was never taught properly in school...

Seriously, selfishness is behind contraception. And the myths about not being able to give kids life's advantages if you have more.

I may not be a parent, but I've heard every excuse in the book.

Hey, maybe the US can just kinda expand north by default.

Unfortunately, with Canada's refugee and immigration policies, it's starting to look like a cesspool of third-world castoffs. In a just a few decades, Canada will become a nation of itinerant Muslims, derelict Africans and a hodge-podge of Asian drifters.

Over 40 Million Abortions
in U.S. since 1973

There have been more than 40 million abortions in the twenty six   years since the U.S. Supreme Court legalized unrestricted abortion on January 22, 1973.

Except when noted, the following statistics are based on research published by the Alan Guttmacher Institute, special research affiliate of Planned Parenthood Federation of America--the nation's largest provider and promoter of abortion.   Estimates for 1997 and 1998 are based on trends from previous years.

In the past, AGI has estimated a possible 3-6% rate of underreporting. The following uses the lower figure.

        Year Annual Number of Abortions
	1973 744,600
	1974 898,600
	1975 1,034,200

	1977 1,316,700

One of the worst consequences of all this low fertility will be an explosion of Islam. Especially in Russia.

Exactly. They don't have to do a damn thing, just keep reproducing at the rate they do now and within 100 years they will control every European country.

You hit the nail on the head. It's getting hard to find a genuine Canadian these days. They're getting overrun with Muslims, Blacks, Orientals, etc.

Children are the blessings of God. It is the most fundamental responsiblity of government to provide an environment suitable for family life and the nurturing of children. On this basis, authentic civilization has collapsed (in my view) in those nations without a replacement rate of birth, including Russia, Italy, Japan, Canada, and most of Western Europe.

I would argue further that the one factor shared by all these nations is the dominatation by socialism, with nationalized health care, high taxes, government schools, ad nauseum.

For this reason alone, the corrupt and intensely evil democrat party must be fought at every front, at all times, for the rest of our lives.

I agree, and I'm going to get ripped by the usual suspects here. But we also owe it to ourselves to be more agressive about getting rid of criminals and welfare leeches, not to mention every Moslem with a whiff of disloyalty about him. Even the slightest bit of selectivity makes immigration an economic winner. But we seem to be too lazy to care.

From what I've seen of Canada, it looks like the left-wing federal government actually discourages the assimilation of immigrants and refugees. Unfortunately, this policy will balkanize and ultimately destroy the country.

I'm personally responsible for putting five Russians with postgraduate educations into the U.S. They all are now PRs or citizens, all are earning well into six figures, and one is a stock-option millionaire. These guys are going to pay for 20 average citizens' Social Security pensions. We have imported literally tens of billions of dollars of other nations' brains. But we need to be more careful about importing their welfare cases and criminals.

You said it.

I am a mother of three. My husband and I made some bad choices early in our marriage that resulted in me having to work to help support the family. Because of my skills, I was able to rise up in salary. Now, because my husband's job is more stable than in the past, we can afford to have me work part-time. My employer said no. Either full=time or I can quit. While I am working on being able to quit (we're expecting #4 in the Spring), and we have cut expenses, we would not be able to make ends meet on one salary at this point.

Employers should better help working moms. Those of us who want to stay home sometimes can't, at least not right now. Government should help families by not making it more expensive to have kids, not taxing us to death, and allowing us to get a tax credit private education because the public schools are so bad.

Anyway, these are my pet peeves. I've given ten years of my life to my company, and they won't bend and allow me to work part-time. They said that my work should be my number one priority. I told them my family was.

I'm taking a couple of university courses now, just for grins. A little math, some chemistry. Two professors, both are recently immigrated Russians. They are pretty sharp, too.

Why would any man in his right mind get married when the law is designed to loot him and put him on the street, while he toils to support his ex-wife!
