This sounds like the story of my own journey from registered Democrat to registered Republican.

However, you have found a good Mystery here!I belive posts #29 and #35 together adequately solve the mystery.
(Although Garafalo was in a somewhat funny movie called Mystery Men.)

I wouldn't put political conversion completely out the quesiton in the future, however. There are FReepers and listeners of talk radio who do admit to changes in their political beliefs.
In my social crowd the libs tend to spout their opinions whether anyone asks or not. This silences the conservative voice and some people of no opinion will echo the sentiments to contribute to the conversation, be one of the gang, etc.
I'll talk politics with a few friends but not many, this is a better forum for doing so (not because it is anonymous but because it permits quick fact checking by verifying against web sources/articles). Typos and mistakes can still enter the discussion but it does permit a more reasoned response to any claims. People can be pressed on comments they have made since the entire discussion is logged (with only ocassional deletions).
I've seen a few friends change their political stripe. I remember when Rush Limbaugh first came on the air, a friend said that "he just wants to keep woman at home barefoot and pregnant". When the tv show began, he watched it while channel flipping. He caught the Clinton gaffes (and deceipt like the phoney tears when he spots the camera at Ron Brown's funeral). He didn't take to listening to the radio show but he did change his stripe on the issues (maybe not all of them, such as abortion).

I think she is a Greenie now as well.
She is a diehard liberal, but she has also expressed some dissatisfaction with the Dems' corruptness. As such, she is ideally suited to be a Green IMHO.
FWIW I don't think the wrtiter of this blog is Jeanene.

She's lived in Texas before. It is not out of the question that she lives in Austin these days. It is a liberal mecca for Texas. Also Robert Rodriguez, Sandra Bullock, and other Hollywood talent live in Austin now.

Please stop discussing whether this is really her or not. It is not. Somebody just posted that as a joke. Unfortunately, it was not funny enough to be obvious to some.
Please see this link, and I think you will understand that the person who said it was Garafolo was trying to be funny.

I don't know who she is but a good rant, whether written by her or not.

I can't imagine Garofalo (or anyone else) would 1) send away for a transcript of "This Week with George Stephanopoulos" and 2) read thirty or so weblogs every day or every week. As a celebrity -- or ex-celebrity -- Janeane lives in a rarified celebrity universe, and I can't imagine anyone in that world doing such things.
"Shiloh Bucher" certainly sounds like a pseudonym, but a lot of people -- children of hippie parents -- have such names. Maybe they are pseudopeople or just plain pseuds. Anyway, Shiloh deserves some credit for registering Republican, something Janeane probably wouldn't do.

You can leave the Democrats without becoming a Republican. Why wouldn't she just vote for the Greens?

The UT email address listed on her site also implies that she is Hispanic. Garofalo is Italian.

OTH in NJ here is a gov who led the attack on his own state laws.I missed that aspect. How exactly was McGreevy involved?

Well, we can HOPE, can't we? ;-) Trey Parker and Matt Stone came out as Republicans (for those of you living in caves, those would be the creators of South Park)...it could happen! Shh. Let me stay in the beautiful dream for the moment. :-)
To: mhking
Hard to believe she wrote this because she was listed on the Committee for BS's recent fundraiser.
But perhaps the recent 'bait & switch' NJ tactic was too much for her to bear?
To: mhking
I doubt its true Janeane Garafalo always struck me as a feminist.
