they don't have a hammer any more than the owner of the Yankees baseball team has a hammer to have all the fans cheer at the same time. There is a group think among the left. They see nothing but their point of view and that is how things are done. The left have washed themselves into a "double speak" (aka political correctness) and "crime think", or "thought crime." for any opinion contrary to theirs. They surpress by intimidation. Any reporter who wants to make a name by pursuing McBride court behavior or Holland and Knight mis-deeds will be in fear of retribution without the slightest lifting of a finger. Intimidation. So much for the noble free press.

The 'leftist illuminati'? Should a member of the press have any inclination to deviate from the 'group-think', it would eliminate them from the superior intellectual stratum of which they perceive themselves to be part and subject them to ridicule and censure? For instance, this is the equivalent of being the only person booing in a Yankee crowd while everyone else is cheering.
High risk activity to say the least!

My initial thoughts were more elementary such as blackmail or a quid pro quo deal.

Either way, your words are good. "So much for the noble free press."
