REV. JERRY FALWELL CALLS THE PROPHET MOHAMMED 'A TERRORIST'

The Rev. Jerry Falwell will call Islam’s founder and most sacred figure, Mohammed, "a terrorist" on 60 MINUTES this Sunday night, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

“I think Mohammed was a terrorist. I read enough…by both Muslims and non-Muslims, [to decide] that he was a violent man, a man of war,” Falwell tells CBS. “In my opinion…Jesus set the example for love, as did Moses, and I think Mohammed set an opposite example.”

Falwell hits total controversy while affirming the Christian Right’s steadfast support for the state of Israel against its Islamic enemies.

The interview with CBS reporter Bob Simon, in which Falwell hints that the Christian Right influences U.S. government policy toward Israel, has been set for broadcast, network sources say.

Falwell sent a personal protest to President Bush, and the White House received 100,000 e-mail protests from Christians when Bush urged Israel to remove its forces from Palestinian towns earlier this year. Falwell believes Bush is well aware of the Christian constituency. “There are 70 million of us…[and] there’s nothing that would bring the wrath of the Christian public in this country down on this government like abandoning or opposing Israel on a critical matter,” Falwell tells Simon.

Falwell and conservative Christians support the Israelis and condemn their enemies because they believe the triumph of Israel is God’s will. The Jews’ return to their ancient homeland – and sole ownership of the territories Arabs and Israelis both lay claim to -- is a precondition for the second coming of Christ, according to the Fundamentalist Evangelical Christians’ interpretation of the Bible. The Biblical scenario is not a savory one for many Jews, however. “God save us from these people,” says Israeli political analyst Yossi Alpher. “When you see what these people are encouraging Israel and the U.S. to do…ignore the Palestinians, kick them out…they are leading us into a scenario of out-and-out disaster,” he tells Simon.

But disaster is part of the scenario. Many Fundamentalist Evangelicals believe there will be catastrophic events on earth, some occurring already, including the turmoil in the Middle East, culminating in the Battle of Armageddon in which Christ will triumph and begin ruling the earth. At this point, they believe, non-believers will be destroyed, good Christians saved and any remaining Jews converted to Christianity.

Says Ed McAteer, a founder of the Moral Majority and known as the godfather of the Christian Right, “I believe that we are seeing prophecy unfold so rapidly and dramatically and wonderfully, and, without exaggeration, [it] makes me breathless.”

Falwell is NOT a smart politician. He has been all too easy a target for the left-wing media to demonize and villify. I thought he was a bit off target with that one. But if you modified it a little, he was not too far off.

There was NO excuse for killing thousands of innocents in New York. But if there WAS any reason for their hatred, it was mostly the work of the left, not the right.

It's the forced imposition of birth control, abortion, feminism, and similar NWO projects on third-world nations that they most deeply resent. They also despise us, with some reason, for our pornography, our Hollywood decadence, and for having a president who (as one of our military leaders was fired for saying), was a lying, draft-dodging womanizer.

The left is so self-righteous that they don't see that the image of America that they present to the world is not pretty.

It remains to be seen what 60 Minutes will do with this interview. But I'm afraid Falwell has been picked as a designated target, and when 60 Minutes gets to do all the editing it's pretty hard for their victims to come out looking good. Keep in mind that they don't even have to stick with the interview. They can do all sorts of nasty "background" on Falwell, and stick in other plausible-sounding commentators to attack him, and they probably will.

First of all, we all know that Ronald Reagan said this without knowing the microphone was on.

Christians are perhaps 30% of the population in Lebanon, 20% in Sudan, high single digits on the West Bank and Jordan, 1-2% in Egypt and Syria, and a tiny minority in Iraq. Overall, perhaps 1-2% of the Arab World is Christian -- a smaller percentage than the Jewish population in the U.S.(which is 2%+)

To be frank, we're really talking Islam, a religion whose holy places are in the Arab world, and whose holy book and mother language is Arabic.

Respectfully, I think you're stereotyping Muslims in the same way many of them are stereotyping us. Again, practically every American has been angry at Muslims since 9-11. I'm no exception.

However, it isn't smart to promote a religious conflict with Muslims. Many have no quarrel with us. Some agree with us. We're going to need them -- for intelligence, special operatives and bases, to say nothing of oil.

We're talking about a billion people. Sunnis, Shiites. People who attend mosque and don't attend mosque. The devout and non-believers. Radicals and conservatives. Businessmen and street urchins. Men and women. The educated and illiterate. People on six continents.

I think the more you observe them around the world, the more you're going to notice differences.

We've got to be able to distinguish among our enemies, our friends, and the indifferent. In wartime it's a matter of life and death.

We can't defend against every possible nuclear, chemical or biological attack. We have to plant spies in terrorist states and organizations. Unfortunately, native-born Christian Americans of British descent can't perform this service.

I chose it after long and profound consideration for it's instantly offensive quality. To Hillery of course. It's been a mixed bag really. Some folks are repulsed. Which is OK if they associate that repulsion with HC. Some folks have emmediatly grasped the stark and somewhat gross humor of it. Few here see it twice without commenting one way or another. I got emails stacked up about it. About evenly split between aproval and revulsion and all shades in between.
