Oh, they knew..If nowhere else, it was well documented in the Portland press.

Our police are some of the most serious readers of gun magazines, should they all be suspects?
To: Route66; Joe Hadenuf
Good point, the killer could be a sniper on foot or another vehicle far away, and the vehicle descriptions given are misidentifications of vehicles near the victims.
To: Joe Brower
Amen brudda. Just be careful about being seen with a weapon as the local LEOs arrive in a lather.
To: Fred Mertz
Of that I have no doubt. Therefore, the operational strategy is to conceal one's identity and presence, strike hard and fade away.

Our police are some of the most serious readers of gun magazines, should they all be suspects? Better yet, should people start hanging gun magazines near the doors and windows of their home?! Better than one of those lame hexagon security signs, huh? Personally, I hang my best range targets in my garage.

"Because a lock-down means the kids can't leave, even if parents come to get them."
This is not true.
Code Blue means doors are locked, blinds pulled and the kids are not allowed outside. Parents CAN pick up their children whenever they want to.

"If a rifle is being used, it would be too obvious to walk around with."
You are probably right, but I have a friend who is a military sniper. He has told me thay are trained to do this -in urban areas- and not be seen. Could someone very well trained pull this off on foot? Just wondering.

also, this is a suburban/commercial area on a weekday.
constant motion of vehicles/pedestrians coming and going.
absent muzzle flash or squealing tires, a vehicle casually leaving the area,
especially blocks away from the panic of a crime scene,
would likely go completely unnoticed ...

"My brother lives in Montgomery County. He's got several guns, but of course not with him (against the law there)." I'm sitting at work right now and I've got a .357 magnum in my front pocket, perhaps he needs to learn a little civil disobedience for his own sake?

Just the fact that all 5 who were hit are dead would mean rifle. Handguns kill only about 1/3 of time with shot(s) to thorax. Also, handgun shooter (or shotgun, which is at close range as lethal as rifle) would have to get close, and we would probably have better description of shooter(s).

A well ventilated sillouette target taped inside a window looks awesome at night from outside with a soft backlight.
You really have to see it.

Said one woman was shot in the head at long range while sitting on a park bench. Her head must've exploded like a melon. They had a nasty pick on Foxnews.
To: DWPittelli
I agree with your logic.
To: Route66
On foot? No, he'd need a car. Size and sound blast of rifle would make it hard to run away from 6 crime scenes.
On other note, I have to concede that my earlier speculation of UN/maryland link was pretty obviously wrong. That said, the Maryland thing is highly unusual in a way that means we have to call it at least a 50/50 proposition that Islamofascist terrorists are involved.

"Could someone very well trained pull this off on foot? Just wonderingI may be proved wrong, but I believe the person(s) probably have some background in firearms/training. Either LE, x-military or just hunting/range targeting..anything is possible at this point cause we don't know much.

Ya right, you don't need training. You put the bullet in, you aim and pull the trigger. I'm sure whoever this is, has probably got a considerable amount of range time though.

Sound suppressors are a joke to make, even for a rifle.
The sonic crack which is left does not point to the shooter.
