I hope they can keep Strom on life support that long. He looked very bad last time I saw him on the Senate floor.

I meet both of these ladies when I visited Lott's Senate Office one day and let me just say......Well the look on Strom's Face says what I can't put in words. Hey allot of you give Lott crap about cutting deals with Dems, but the man has taste when picking Senate Aides!!!

"Sen. Hillary Clinton personally intervened with Sen. Joe Biden to stop the Delaware Democrat from rescuing ailing 98-year-old Strom Thurmond from a fatiguing floor debate on Monday, an ordeal some feared might cause the South Carolina Republican to collapse -- or worse," .... "This is disgusting..." Yes it is. The woman has the morals of a starving shark. She ought to be hoisted on a hook, have her jaws pulled out, and be slowly, cautiously skinned alive ...."
Just kidding. Don't meaner any violence.

If youguys like the picture of these to loves then you should hear them speak, they are true Southern Belles and can I get a dixie ping on that one!

He's like 7,564 years old, people that age "collapse" from cool breezes. I've been to historic landmarks younger than Strom. The running gag when the CSS Hunley was raised was that on the inside the archaeology team found a "Re-elect Strom Thurmond" sticker.

When ol' Strom finally does pass from this mortal coil, I may have to get myself down to the other Carolina and join in his funeral parade. I plan to carry and wave a large Confederate flag.
(If I'm not too old and infirm. I'm already 50)

What a neat post! Good for you...I hope you make that journey someday.
And after reading about hillary and her nastiness-keeping Strom on the senate floor when others, including dems, wanted to call a halt to proceedings just burns me. She is horrid. From shoving him and almost knocking him over to get to mics ( the waiting press corp) long ago - it was said kennedy kept Strom from falling down at that moment), to riding in a vehicle after Sept 11 that did not stop for a security check at a NY airport and ended up hitting and sending a guard/policeman to the HOSPITAL ( and yes-that witch did NOT get out of the car to see if the man was injured and needed help-DISGUSTING!!!!) to knowing she was willing to trash billy dale's whole life with outright LIES in order to simply give a supporter his job in the WH travel office...this woman MAKES ME ILL!
How can ANYONE work with her and remain able to hold his or her head up. She is vile. And I know the meaning of the word 'IS'.
God Bless ya Strom, and make sure they do a comprehensive blood test on ya.....the democrats make nasty enemies.

Holy smokes! Sounds like the man has nine lives anyway. He's got to be one of the oldest living guys from the battle. In addition, did you notice that he enlisted as a sitting and active CIRCUIT COURT JUDGE!!! I can't image any of the New Jersey or Florida Sup Ct justices enlisting to fight Al Qaida.

Cheer for Talent to win so Strom can go out as President Pro Tem without needing the Emeritus label. If Talent wins and enough other Rats lose to ensure a "Jeffords-proof" 2003 majority then Chaffee etc. won't jump from RINO Committee chairmen status to minority Rat status and Strom goes out on top.

Just curious...
Are there any FReepers that believe todays selloff on Wall Street was attributable to Strom?
I just want to know how deep the delusions run.

I've been to historic landmarks younger than Strom. Sure hope the guy survives to January, but I got to admit this was a funny remark.

Can't you think of something really nasty to do to her?

FYI: You were not dreaming. During lunch today, I picked up a local newspaper, which was free, and tah-da - there was a mention of Strom Thurmond collapsing while he was at a funeral (not his own). Strom has not assumed room temperature yet. He seems to be OK.

Thanks. It was a minor, perhaps almost daily, collapse.
I don't know why ABC Radio led off their news with it. They only mentioned it once, and then never again.
Thanks for the update.
