Waitaminute. Are you my brother? (He eats Tabasco on everything, pancakes, pizza, eggs, etc).
To: newsperson999
I think its near its closest point to NO, will do a big ellipse around the city.
To: Black Agnes
To hell with worrying about the price of oil per barrel, the Tabasco Sauce market may go through the roof.
To: My Favorite Headache
Yeah, hopefully she will stay up the whole night with ya!

Thank God for the high school football updates on cancellations. I mean...there might not even be a high school on Saturday...but I understand their concern none the less. /sarcasm

Please explain the pressure. How does that look compared to earlier today? That is up just a smidge from the 5 PM ET package.
Changed to inches of mercury, the 5 PM package was 27.76" Hg. The 11 PM package is at 27.82" Hg.

WOW. I'd never heard of a GALLON JUG of Tabasco. Shouldn't that be classified as a chemical weapon or something? :)

On TWC just said pressure at this time of night is expected. Does not effect the strength...she is still a life taker no question.

Prayers to all of you down there. I can't imagine being in the the middle of it. I'm paying attention so I can discuss this with my sister who is addicted to weather events.

"So please tell us while we wait for the next weather advisory, what was the origin of the shower comment? " What shwer comment?

System is making a more North turn now. Obviously we have been discussing this all night but looking at all of the reports from the hurricane hunters and the offshore reports...this might not be as far away from New Orleans as thought. They are going to be in some deep crap with this storm surge.
To: newsperson999
We seem to be posting at the same time the same info.
To: Motherbear
Sure! Makes sense to me. Not! LOL Ok, quick lesson.
High pressure - good.
Low pressure - bad.
Pressure going down - things get worse.
Pressure going up - things get better.
Generally.
Some benchmarks.
1017 mbar - average air pressure.
1000 mbar - typical pressure of summertime LP system tracking across northern US.
990 mbar - typical pressure of LP storm rolling up the Ohio valley in wintertime.
970 mbar - typical pressure of severe noreaster (sometimes called a "white hurricane") tracking up Atlantic coastline in winter.
This system is 941. That is really not good.

We might as well have a Hurricane Party. Those of us out of harm's way will have a drink to relax and wait, methinks.
To: My Favorite Headache
really not the case, storm already about 75 miles west of new orleans, still moving nw to nnw.
