Jim McDermott and David Bonior have "MISLED" America about their Vietnam service.

Congressmen Jim McDermott and David Bonior have "MISLED" the American people about their Vietnam service.

During their Baghdad press conference, both McDermott and Bonior touted their Vietnam combat service, while calling President Bush a liar and praising Sadam Hussein's openness and cooperation.

Upon returning to the U.S., the two congressmen held a press conference and again highlighted their Vietnam combat service, as an obvious measure to boost their qualifications to remark on the horrors of war.

Following the news conference, McDermott appeared on MSNBC and once again clearly established at the onset of the interview that he had served in Vietnam.

And most recently, Major Garrett of Fox News reported that he had just talked with Bonoir and McDermott, and noted that both of them had "fought in the Vietnam War"

But easily available evidence indicates neither of them ever left the safety of the CONUS.

According to Congress Merge Online, McDermott's military experience is shown as:

Professional Experience (including Military):
Long Beach Naval Station, US Navy Medical Corps,1968-70
Private Practitioner, 1970-87

According to the Detroit Free Press (May 18, 2002), Bonoir's military experience is:
"...He enlisted in the Air Force after receiving his draft notice because enlisting meant he had more control over where he might be stationed; getting drafted most likely would mean being sent to Vietnam. He served in California in 1968-72 and earned his master's degree at the same time."

Why the press blindly buys off on what these two traitors say is incredible.

Just a couple of the standard journalism questions would show these two as the liars and traitors they really are:

When were you in Vietnam?

What campaign/service ribbons were you awarded?

Why are you lying about Vietnam combat service, when both of you spent your military time in the State of California ?

Just maybe someone from the press will see this and take the both of them to task.

Absolutely you should be proud of your service and I hold you in high regard for it. It is not the servicemans choice of where he will serve. You DID volunteer for Vietnam duty as did I. Who was the luckier one. That depends on how you look at it. I feel "lucky" because I have an experience that is very hard for anyone who has not been there to understand. BUT I also have several friends ... one of whom died in my arms ... that have the same experience but were NOT so "lucky"

I saw McDermott try to brush off questions for Rich Nowak ("Crossfire") about how he lied about being a VietNam veteran: "I SAW the effect that VietNam had on our young men, blah, blah, blah"

AS IF THAT IS THE SAME AS COMBAT SERVICE IN VIET NAM. (Of course, pantywaist conservative Nowak didn't ask any direct follow-up questions the way Sean Hannity would have!!)

What a VILE PIECE OF CR@P McDermott is!!! Why should anyone believe anything he says if he's willing to lie about his service record?

mcdermott an bonior should be immediately added to the bums section in the book "Stolen Valor", and used in future campaign ads against them.

I called the man who ran the local VA office and he said that he couldn't release the information without a FOIA form, but he could tell me that it would be extremely unusual for a vet to not list his "In Country" service time on his resume.

Hi Eva, The "resume" I think I was talking about, was McDermott's congressional website, his biographical information...I'm sure that doesn't have to be as totally complete as a resume for employment.
