Posted on 10/01/2002 4:30:04 PM PDT by Liz
Couldn't have said it better myself. So schadenfreud-ish in that Torricelli's forced exit from the race b/c he is an ethical nightmare for Dems tuns into a Dem nightmare to replace him.

Brit Hume said that Lautenburg has already said he is NOT going to foot the bill for this.
The plot thickens. I still think this is a set up by the Rats to change the topic and get the media to stop talking about every stupid stunt the Rats have done and try another Fl stunt .. and even IF Torricelli was to resign?? .. it will be a Rat Govenor that denied the voters of NJ their consitutional rights

Didn't the feds step in in Florida and sue them about the military ballots and the state of Florida entered into a consent agreement. Harris sent out a letter and Gore's laywer's just went out told counties to ignore it and Harris told them if you do you'd be in violation. Does anyone know the specifics about the consent agreement in relation to military votes and why the feds stepped in?

You know the old song about the woman who swallowed a fly?
I know a Democrat who stole an election. He stole the election to stop the talk about defending Iraq. He talked about defending Iraq to stop the talk about insulting the Senate. He talked about insulting the Senate to stop the talk about obstructing homeland defense. He talked about obstructing homeland defense to stop the talk about the president's popularity. He talked about the president's popularity to stop the talk about not getting his issues out. He stole the election because he couldn't get his issues out. I guess he'll die.

So what about the stories that say that Torch and Lautenberg are mortal enemies? It doesn't sound like these two are interested in helping each other.
I think it's more likely that Torch is a goner, and Lautenberg is happy to have a seat again.

A few dates remaining in the New Jersey General election. I guess they could possibly send out new ballots to the Military as the 29th is the last day to request one by mail. So those that have done so and already mailed they could send a replacement......
- October 7 - Last day to register to vote in the November General Election
- October 29 - Last day to apply for an absentee ballot application by mail (for the General Election)
- November 4 - Last day to apply for an absentee ballot application in person (for the General Election)
- November 5 - General Election Day - polls open 6 AM until 8 PM

That the Democrats have been trying to change the subject over and over and over for the past month or so, and each time it just gets worse and worse for them.

"Does anyone know the specifics about the consent agreement in relation to military votes and why the feds stepped in?"Uh...I know the state and federal government was trying to ensure that military voters weren't disenfranchised...then Algore's team found a little known section in Florida state election law which dealt with POST MARKS and used it to disenfranchise thousands of military ballots, because mail picked up from ships at sea is frequently not postmarked, because it skips that little red-stamp portion of the trip through the postal system.
