Not correct. Even under the reading of the law that would allow them to cancel this November's Sentate election, it would be next November (that being the second general election from the point of resignation).
But there is no way the SCOTUS would allow them to pull a scheme to extend a 6 year term into a 7 year term, especially by a law that would allow them to do that again and again and again as long as they controlled the governorship.

Your correct William .....but this is the RATS we are talking about....and the trial lawyers. I can see them trying this gambit.......hell man they tried to STEAL a PRESIDENTAL ELECTION right out from under the American peoples noses....

Even under the reading of the law that would allow them to cancel this November's Sentate election... Aren't there equal protection issues? If NJ can cancel an election because they don't like the slate of candidates (or the chances of one party winning over another), then what's to stop Missouri or South Dakota from doing the same? It is unfair to the voters of other states if one state is allowed to alter the election process in order to influence the outcome.
