I had quit but the Florida thing made me start up again. Now I am seriously into gin.
If we don't get rid of these Rats soon, I might be hooked on airplane glue.

Now, I wonder if I can get the floor mopped before the press conference. If Clinton shows up on that stage, I will be making myseld a double, extra-dry!
If Clinton shows up, I'll be trying to figure out if I have enough time to mop up as well.

f we don't get rid of these Rats soon, I might be hooked on airplane glue. Be careful--I think that's what killed Lloyd Bridges :-)

I altered the caption.Damn. I was hoping someone at the AP had finally come into possession of some cojones.

That is what is keeping me sane right now ........they wouldn't dare try to cancel the election because their guy is losing....

The irony if Frank Lautenberg replaces the Torch. They hate each other.

I am not in the slightest bit surprised at this...it is business as usual for the Dims...dirty business at that.

"The Dems are so desperate for power that they cancelled an election."
Bares repeating. Unfrickinbelievable.

There is no way they can just appoint someone for two years because he resigned. That would have such a destabilizing effect upon ALL elections. Not that the Dems would mind, but legally, I don't think it'll fly. Agreed. You could, in theory, pull the same stunt again in 9/04, keep the seat until 9/06, do it again...you'd never have to hold another election.
To: dubyaismypresident
LOL.....running out for airplane glue....be back.
To: Catspaw
The Dems will try the legal argument that whoever replaces Toricelli that he or she will become the incumbent and therein their name automatically qualifies to be placed on the ballot.
Do you think this will work?

Sen. Bob Torricelli, D-N.J., practices his Richard Nixon "I am not a crook" speech and gestures during a union rally to support his re-election bid in Trenton, N.J., Sept. 23, 2002. Torricelli is considering dropping out of the race, a Democratic party source said Monday, Sept. 30, 2002. (AP Photo/Mike Derer)

That is what is keeping me sane right now ........they wouldn't dare try to cancel the election because their guy is losing My take is this...swing voters were running from Torricelli and they're hoping to bring them back by running someone else.
But the same people who are disgusted by the Torch's ethics, are the same people who won't care for this tactic either, AS LONG AS we slam it as the weasel move that it is.

This is a disgusting move and I hope that it blows up in their faces like all the rest of their recent tricks. Can someone provide a very quick summary of what's going on, for those of us whose cable TV is down and who are finding all the "news sites" a good hour behind the current state of affairs?
To: Dog
They would and will try anything! Lautenberg is my bet because he is loaded and the DNC is running out of cash. I'm holding out hope that he will not pull out, but then why the press conference? Maybe the dem voters will not buy into this sham...I'll keep dreaming.
