I think that you're missing the point. The perception in the electorate is that the booming economy of the Nineties was due to Clinton. It is immaterial whether this perception is justified. Clinton is widely considered to be due credit for those "good times."

Isn't it interesting that prosperity in the 80's was GREED, whereas prosperity in the 90's was, well, prosperity.

Well, Reagan and Bush 41 were president in the 80's, and they're Republicans, and of course, everybody knows that the Republicans are greedy, I mean Julia Roberts and Barbra Streisand say so, but Clintoon was president during the 90's and he was so compassionate and felt people's pain and saved abortion and was the victim of a vicious right wing conspiracy. So that's why.
