Laura Bush confident in Mexico-U.S. immigration agreement
EFE - 9/26/2002
U.S. First Lady Laura Bush said she was convinced an immigration agreement could be reached between Mexico and the United States, because their leaders want it.
Mrs. Bush, who participated in the 11th Conference of the Wives of Heads of State and Government in Mexico City on Wednesday, said, "I do see a solution to this problem."
In statements to the Mexican press made in Washington and published Wednesday in Reforma daily, Laura Bush explained she and her husband had lived in Texas for many years and have a special sensitivity for the problems of the U.S. Hispanic community.
"There are so many stories about immigrants and the children of immigrants in the United States. Our whole country is made up of immigrants who were able to overcome poverty and obtain good jobs. There are many examples in my husband's administration," the first lady noted.
Mrs. Bush acknowledged that the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks had set back the agenda between Mexico and the United States, but insisted that Presidents Bush and Fox "are going to meet again to try to revitalize and refocus the issue of immigration."
The first lady said she felt "a special bond with Mexico" and recalled the couple had spent their honeymoon in Mexico City and the Caribbean resort of Cozumel. The first lady is expected to focus on childhood poverty as she participates in this summit.

They vote anyways, all they need is a drivers license which most states will hand out to the illegals with no questions asked. At least thats how it works in Kalifornistan.

There *are* NO more good jobs in the US.You are the problem. Learn a skill, get a job. It's quite easy.

How arrogant. I have a PhD and many skills. I already have a very good paying job. However, not every American is capable of, nor wants a PhD. Nor, should they have to have one in order to afford to feed their kids. I will, however, be quitting my job and become a stay at home mom. Why should I work to pay taxes that are being used to undermine the sovereignty of my country?
Are you a DU-er in disguise? Most of our blue collar manufacturing jobs are GONE. Hello, what planet are you on? 100 years ago there were blue collar jobs that Americans and immigrants could perform and maintain a middle class existence. These have been exported to China, Indonesia and everywhere else. You must work for the Government if you can't see that.

Bush needs votes. He believe the Mexicans here will vote for him if he is soft on their relatives sneaking over the border. However, they will vote Democrap because of all the welfare programs the Demos will promise. The result will be more and more illegals coming in.
Lots of reasons for me to not like getting old, but one to like it is I lived at a time when my country was rich, well educated and spoke English, back before people like Tyson turned it into third world swamp.

Good advice. Go into politics, social work, imorting Chinese goods or some other bullshit activity where you don't need a lot of personal struggle or investment.

He loves the illegals. Wants to turn us into a tower of babel too. Must have a successful landscaping business. What's gonna trip him up long term is that when the Americans whose lawns he's landscaping lose their jobs overseas or to cheap Mexican illegal labor, he'll have to go out of business...

" I'd like it if all immigration - legal and illegal were stopped for a year, so that the INS can catch up with who is here, and who has overstayed, and send the latter home." They couldn't find their behinds with both hands in just a year. We need a 5 year moratorium on legal immigration, and we need to crack down hard on illegals, no matter where they're from. Of course, I'm dreaming. There is no will to deal with the issue on the part of congress or the president so we will continue to be overrun until we are indeed an enslaved minority in our own country.

I have a job!
Jobs for AMERICANS. I'm not Mexican. Hello!!!. When was the last time you purchased electronics that said 'Made in America'? Ditto most everything else...Now, we're forced to support an invasion of illegals into the last jobs that Americans could get w/o a college degree.
I have to ask if you work for the Mexican Consulate. You sure sound like it. 'Let them eat cake!'.
I don't bash 'Mexicans', I do however, bash illegals. And those that aid and abet them. Illegal is illegal.
How many illegals do you employ!?
To: marron
"I am calling for immediate National Guard patrols along the border, particularly the rural areas where #1 illegals are dying and #2 Mexican soldiers are crossing and firing on Border Patrol agents" And #3: law-abiding AMERICAN citizens living along the border are being terrorized in their own homes.
To: PRND21
How many illegals do you employ? Are you one? Why do you think they're so great?
To: Tancredo Fan; All
First of all, everyone should CALM down.
I didn't see "quotation" marks around several comments being attributed to the First Lady. This First Lady is there for a CHILDRENS forum. That's a good thing.
She isn't there as our President but as First Lady, with OTHER First Ladies.
I will wait to see what she REALLY said, and IN ITS ENTIRETY!!
To: reagent; Black Agnes
"You should be more open-minded about Urinating-Americans." LOL! But they're NOT Americans.
