A new species is appearing more frequently in Sequoia National Park: marijuana. During the past month, park rangers and law enforcement officials have uprooted 19 marijuana gardens from the Mineral King and South Fork areas of the park. Officials disposed of more than 35,000 plants -- with an estimated street value of more than $140 million -- in an undisclosed Tulare County site.

It sounds like you are more concerned with the negative effects drugs have on people rather than having some emotional obsession with the idea that people may be doing something you don't personally approve of. Good for you, I wish everyone had enough brains to use reason, rather than 'feelings', to shape their political philosophy.

Maybe we could get the statist butt-lickers into an altercation with the manufacturers of bathroom tissue.

Do YOU want to get that stoned that often?

Back when I smoked grass, YESSSSSSSSSS!!! Daily. Muchly.

I suppose one factor in drug use/abuse is personality type. I tend towards excess, so no surprise I was chronic.

I would like to warn people, though, that drugs of any kind can deceive you. I've seen plenty of "moderate types"—the kind so often portrayed in these threads—fall into the hole of addiction. Always there was the prideful "Not me!" attitude preceding the fall.

Beware those who offer you freedom while "they themselves are slaves to depravity."

What makes guzzling a half-gallon of vodka morally superior to taking a draw off a doob?

Pretty hard to separate the individual's expectation of the from the drug's biochemical effect.

Understand. I agree the war on drugs is a total joke and fraud. And I have no problem that other people have no respect for their bodies.

However, my statement still stands. Your a mental weakling if you knowingly destroy your body for a few minutes of bliss.

Well that's bullshit because loosertarian's real agenda is to legalize all narcotics. My program is to execute those who deal hard drugs and to exile pot dealers.

Idiots like this are a large part of the problem.

God promises that the death penalty is a reliable deterrent:

"So you shall put away the evil from Israel. And all the people shall hear and fear, and no longer act presumptuously." Deut. 17:12-13

That's "your".

LOL - You're right

Medical use yes - Legalize - NO!

Why no legalization?

Because Im in charge dammit!

Alcohol is legal although it's deadlier and more addictive.

Much agreed - I rode the alcoholic pony for a while - The double standard for children is Im sure confusing. While we cant legislate morality - I think the case could be made that alcohol is indeed a drug. I havent figured out how we can wean the govt off the cash/tax teet of alcohol sales though -so I dont anticipate a change real soon 'cept by raising the drinking age, raising the tax on it and suing the makers for outrageous sums that we can use to subsidize some lame urban project (sarcasm)

Would you agree that those who tend to excess can also readily wind up abusing alcohol? And that there are many people who do not tend to excess and thus are at relatively low risk of getting addicted if they smoke marijuana?

True in principle---but I doubt that people systematically expect to get violent on booze but do not systematically expect to get violent on coke, speed, or PCP.

having a dozen mindless bushbots posting a stupid "5" to you.

What does "5" mean? (In this context; I know it's one more than 4, so don't bother, all you wiseguys.)

So why should the former be legal but the latter illegal?

BINGO! The War On Some Drugs has no rational or moral justification---it's solely about power.

I think the case could be made that alcohol is indeed a drug.

Alcohol is clearly and unquestionably a drug.

does that include other behavior, like having a class of wine with dinner, couple beers during a ballgames,
or sex out of wedlock. I don't believe that smoking a doob every now and then is
any more damaging than having a few beers.

The lawyers on food stamps would eat up the savings.

I have no doubt that the legal eagles in Washington would use the moneyfor their own pet projects
However, how many people would not be sent to jail for smoking
a little weed.
