Girl, 16, forced out of anatomy class
Baltimore Sun ^ | 9-25-2002 | Jonathan D. Rockoff

A 16-year-old student at Kenwood High School who refused to dissect a cat was forced to abandon her honors anatomy and physiology class Monday, even though her mother offered to buy a computer alternative.

Jennifer Watson, an A student from Essex who cares for a pet cat named Fluffy, resisted dissection as inhumane.

The girl wanted to remain in the class, and her mother proposed buying software for performing simulated dissections on the computer, according to the girl and her mother, Maria Watson. But the teacher threatened to fail the college-bound student if she didn't participate in the dissections.

You're wrong. I feed ferals....and they aren't PESTS to me..in fact some people like them around their stores.

Feral animals not only ARE pests, they can be pretty damn dangerous.

NNnnnnnnnnooooooooo REALLY???? I know what a domesticated dog can do to you and I know what a cat can do...all animals can put you in the hospital. Even people.

You're still showing specists preferences. Monkeys and rabbits are also sometimes kept as pets. And of course cats are amung the LONG list of animals that are occasionally used in the lab

That is why I said it was a PHRASE. LOL!

Are you incapable of reading even 2 lines from the dictionary. If you're feeding them then THEY AREN'T FERAL.

I'm not talking that kind of dangerous. I'm talking about animals that have gone round the bend and have a serious dislike of humans kind of dnagerous. Not merely the pressence of natural weaponry, but showing the obvious desire to use it. Stop playing fast and lose with definitions, it shows just how desperately lacking in logic you really are. Feral animals are pests, they are not the ones you feed, they are viscious animals that have gone around the bend and if they stake out territory around your home present a very real threat to your safety and the safety of your pets. They need to be eliminated. That's not a matter of being heartless, it's a matter of not wanting MY cats to get killed by this little psycho that clearly means them harm.

LOL yourself. By your own use of that phrase you have now made it OK to dissect cats. Because cats are used in labs and you said animals used in labs are OK to dissect. Thusly you have erradicated your own "point" as tiny and patehtic as it was to start with.

That's the problems with vegans, they don't have any meat in their diet and that makes them weak and delirious and they can't think straight.

How can it be inhumane to dissect a cat that is already dead???

She should be given a personal tour of a local county morgue to show that it's not cats, frogs, sharks and worms are the only things "dissected"...

You know nothing of which you post! Even so, there is NO meaningful mention of Korean's eating cats! Interesting that some of your "photos" have Chinese letters instead of Korean Hangul. Please take your inflammatory references and sit on them.

Where it says "existing in a wild and untamed state", if they're accepting food from humans that's tamed and not wild and therefore NOT FERAL. here are some other handy definitions of feral (also from Dictionary.com, further down in the page):
[L. feralis, belonging to the dead.] Funereal; deadly; fatal; dangerous. [R.] ``Feral accidents.'' --Burton.
[L. ferus. See Fierce.] (Bot. & Zo["o]l.) Wild; untamed; ferine; not domesticated; -- said of beasts, birds, and plants.
adj : wild and menacing; "a ferocious dog" [syn: savage]

You see, feral animals are pests, and dangerous ones at that. Not in the general "eveything is dangerous sometimes" kind of dangerous, but in the specific "this things wants to hurt me right now" kind of way.

Well if you won't chop up dead animals for education, but you're willing to raise, slaughter and chop up animals for food then you're a vile hypocrite. Take your pick toots.

Uh the dictionary says YOU'RE full of beans. And if you've EVER listened to any naturalists/ zoologists/ and various other animal experts that have periodically appeared on the TVs and bookshelves of America in the last 50 years or so you'd know the answer to your question is a resounding, full throated, unequivocal, and taking the time to note that it's a bad thing, YES. That's why you're not supposed to feed wild animals, they quickly cease hunting and start transitioning to domesticated. That's why when zoos fix up injured animals they go through a major rehabilitation process to de-domesticate them and get them hunting again before releasing them back out in the wild, otherwise they'd wander around looking for their food dish and starve to death.

For someone that claims to love animals you sure don't know JS about them.

http://www.animals-hope.org/KoreaHistory.html

Yet the growing democratization of Korea weakened the ability of the state to stop dog-and-cat-eating, even if ensuing governments had possessed the will to do so. Dog-and/or-cat-eaters are a minority of Koreans , but an influential minority, disproportionately represented among middle-aged-to-older males, who as a class still hold most of the national wealth and clout, head most families, and are most emulated by younger men who hope to succeed to their positions. Governments responsive to their citizens tend not to oppose popular practices. Instead, they seek ways of pleasing everyone. As dog-and-cat-eating are essentially rural and working class customs, educated people in positions of influence mostly don't eat dogs and cats—but they depend on votes and political contributions from people who do, and value the "service" of the dog-and-cat-eaters in providing animal control, which would otherwise have to be funded by higher taxes.

When I get home...I'll have some more pages where you can see that do indeed EAT CATS.

You can post all the BIASED pages you want. Do you believe everything you read on the web? Especially from those with an agenda? I lived in Korea. I can also read. As another poster, you are merely trying to cause trouble. Please go home.

Toots you don't have the intelligence necessary to construct a sentence that would hurt my feelings.

So you're changing topics again, must throwing in the towel because you've clearly cornered yourself by making rediculous sentences clearly contradicted by both the dictionary and every animal expert that has ever walked the earth. That's the most annoying part about people like you. Can never admit you're wrong, even when you accidentally said something really dorky and obviously incorrect from the first word. Here let me help, repeat after me:
You're right discostu, domesticated and semi-domesticated animals that have learned to trust people as a source of food are clearly niether feral nor wild. Everybody with a lick of sense knows this, but I had gone a little crazy staking out untenable positions for the sake of contradicting you and just started making crap up. It's a silly girl thing, bad hair day you know.

There, don't you feel better.
