Yeah. I chalk this one woman up to a "stopped clock right twice a day" sort of thing. She was doing work on the lives of Muslim women (searching for more patriarchal oppression to write about, you know, and the muslim world is rich earth to dig in) and commented in her intro about Saddam Hussein cutting out people's tongues and drilling into their kneecaps with power drills, or something along those lines.
Of course, now that we've liberated Afghanistan she's probably writing about our "Western aggression" and how "ripping off" these veils is yet another form of oppression and so forth and so on. It is apparently not yet time for the second half of the "twice a day" maxim.
