Not that it makes at any difference to the writer of this article but here at the University of Oklahoma our starting kicker is a walk-on Freshman from Carrolton, TX, and our deep snaper starter is a walk-on from Norman who is also a Freshman.
As for Gymastics here at OU, there is a lot of competition for not many positions as they are one of the top programs in the NCAA but why let a little thing like that stand in the way of this article.

ok. There are some walk-ons here and there. But since the early nineties, when so many teams were eliminated, men came up with the idea to privately raise the funding for various teams so they could still participate. Thu, the entire team was virtually walk-on. Did this work? No! Because the colleges counted heads not dollars. Too many men. Elimnate the team even though it didn't cost the college a dime.
Freepers!! Do some research before you support Title IX. All of this is very well documented. The way title IX was interpreted during the Clinton years absolutely devastated mens sports.
Male college enrollment as a percentage has dropped. Colleges are now 60-40 female and the difference is projected to rise. (perhaps this is why left-right political affiliation are similar)
I guess the men are the worker bees.
