Showed up in an SUV in Indiana.
I am trying to fix it. I am running for a state legislative seat and, in this regard, my goal is to force the CPS to obey the due process clause of the constitution. In fact most problems that we Libertarians have with government comes from the government disobeying the founding document.
If the Bill of Rights were not being ignored, we would have nothing to complain about and could retire from politics. That is the way that it was supposed to be in this nation.
Rhetorical excess, and I speak as a fellow Libertarian. From what we all saw on tape, it's obviously at there are grounds for police action in finding out how this particular child was treated, and to make sure that the child presented in today's surrender was the same child we saw being shaken like a rag doll.
The B* threw a tantrum, and we're all hoping that some little girl has not paid the ultimate price for her mother's sins.
They are not all equally bad. Some states have a particularly bad reputation. They all live under the same basic rules, they ignore due process to a greater or lesser extent and they all receive cash bonuses for removing kids from families paid for by the Federal government with your tax dollars.
Word of advice: your statement about boycotting Kohl's is JUST the kind of rhetoric to keep you from being elected. Sure, it may tickle the handful of Libertarians who vote, but you'll still lose. Then you can't "fix" anything. Remember, words mean something, and once they've been said, it's impossible to get them back.
I am a libertarian, and the boycott Kohl statement is outrageous.
You are making this a CPS issue. This is no frivilous case, no systematic starving of kids to prove or anything of the sort. This is a questionable merchandise transaction turn felony child abuse with eyewitnesses. I don't care who takes her kids away from her and places them in a safe environment. Just do it! She needs to be dealt with severely, if it's CPS who does it, so be it.
Don't think patrons in the parking lot who witnessed the beating and have seen the tape will not come forward.
BTW the child is with Dad not the CPS. Mom in custody.
30 years ago I saw a mom in the apartment building laundromat scream, swear, and repeatedly hit her 2 year old boy who needed to use the potty. He was jumping up and down, holding his crotch and weeping.
I was folding my clothes, and my apartment was right around the corner. I have been kicking myself all these years that I did not step in and offer to take that child to my apartment to use the bathroom. I just stood there with my mouth open. I'll never forgive myself for that. The folks at Kohls did the right thing.
So you feel that what was seen on video tape was within the bounderies of standard discipline for a child?
I don't know and I won't know until a jury tells me. That is what due process means.
If another relative has the girl now, that is OK but that rarely happens. Usually they take the kid and that is the end of it. All the publicity in this case will probably work to protect the child from the usual treatment.
Next month we'll be Beating the Mother of all Surrenders.
What does common sense tell you? Or is that asking too much?
If you had been walking by and seen this happening, what would your response have been? Would you have gathered a group of this woman's peers so you could discuss what was going on and then make a decision? Or would you have turned and walked the other way? You've already effectively said that you wouldn't have stopped her.
I don't think any more Libertarians think that than say, Christian fundamentalists.
Good God man, did you see the frigging tape!
You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.
