According to the knee-jerk ideologues, the innocent and sinless mother who mercilessly slapped her 4 year old is a veritable Jesus being sacrificed to the blood-thirsty mob, and the little monstrous and criminal girl is the robber, Barrabas. The moral of his story is we must never experience any moral outrage about anything except moral outrage.

ROTFLOL Have you made a single post in the last two years that doesn't have the word
ideologue in it?
I bet you still haven't looked it up in the dictionary either.
You are a liar. I specified in my posts that the woman and girl were not the objects of my analogy. But you know that since you read those posts and responded to them. With distortions, false accusations and, as now, lies.
Bite me!

That's not a quote. It's a paraphrase. What was the exact quote? The following is the exact quote from the news article. The exact quote from the prosecutor is in bold for your convenience. If you are not happy with that, contact FOX News.
Martha showed no signs of physical injury, but the state placed her temporarily in custody of another family, prosecutor Chris Toth said Saturday. The girl was being examined at a hospital. "She's safe. We just have to, at this point, make sure there are not any deeper physical injuries," Toth said. "She's a sweet, wonderful girl. Physically she looks fine."

"She's safe. We just have to, at this point, make sure there are not any deeper physical injuries," Toth said. "She's a sweet, wonderful girl. Physically she looks fine." Note that it does not say there are no physical injuries. It justs says she looks "fine".

A most interesting read
worth bookmarking by FReeper Dennis Marlock, especially the part on
Gypsy Criminal Groups, shows the Travellers are trained to be grossly contrite when caught, but to continue the misbehavior.
I remember the 60 Minutes type program that said in the very rare cases where the Traveller scam artists are confronted with ripping off someone, they immediately give back the money with profuse apologies and thus the charges are usually dropped. TooGoodToBeTrue comes across this way.

You are weird, aren't you?
IMHO, may be chosing a rather self-destructive way to debate here, by reposting people's comments ad nauseum. I've never seen anything like it.
You'll be earning yourself a lot of adversaries on this forum. Nice job.

I like Michael Savage's comments as to why he watches 'Cops' once in awhile. It is not for the reason as it would be for most viewers; to hold it as some kind of 'entertainment'.
Rather, coming from a social scientist perspective, Savage says the TV show is evidence of so much decay in modern American society in the last 20 years or so, particularly in the worse-off half in white communities. The lack of order, the lying and victim mentality, the 'I didn't do anything!' when caught, the degradation of it all.
And I am sure this is not just limited to the South, as "Cops" feature policemen dealing with American cultural decay in all regions of the country.

I keep hearing that the little girl had been taken and placed with a family (non-relative.) The poor thing- if she gets abused there then I hope her family sues the county/state big time.
There was NO reason this little girl couldnt be staying with relatives or at the very least someone else she already knew.

But we do know that the child has now been examined and shown to be without physical injury. She is described by the prosecutor as being "a sweet, wonderful girl. Physically she looks fine." Do we know really that? The mother drove the kid to NEW JERSEY to be examined after a beating that happened in INDIANA. Bruises fade rapidly on a child. And with 50 family members in on the deal, are you abosultely certain that it is the same chaild?
I suffered a fall with extensive bruising just before leaving on a trip to Virginia and New Jersey (from Wisconsin) last year. The bruises no longer showed by the time I got to New Jersey eight days later -- although they still hurt like crazy! I'm an older person, and bruises last longer on someone like me. However, they had faded remarkably in this case, despite the pain I was still suffering. My fall was from a faulty pair of sandals and sheer stupidity on my part. I can't imagine the emotional pain I would have felt if my bruises were at the hands of a family member.
Ms Toogood also abandoned that fancy SUV to avoid detection. I'll bet her husband that that was a nifty act. No wonder she has volunteered to leave her husband and split up the family just to get the kid back. And she died her hair too. But you don't consider those acts an attempt to hide from authorities?
Tell you what, Carb., I've got the most wonderful waterfront property to sell you in Florida! And I'll throw in a beautiful bridge in Brooklyn just to seal the deal because you are so perceptive. < /sarcasm>

I agree AIT. The demise of culture in this country is broad based.
BTW, I watched a Japanese movie last night called Audition....very disturbing. The Japanese sure have a moody dark side to some of their films. Have you seen it?
I've always been more of a Kurosawa fan.
Regards.

Ha! Now the mom is expected to plead "not guilty" as a formality. Now she claims that she suffers
discrimination because she is a member of the Irish Travelers and it made her nervous in the store! What a crock!

I'll tell you what I've noted, AppyPappy. You have already made up your mind on this matter, facts be damned.
Thank God you are not a prosecutor, a judge, or in danger of being selected for jury duty in Indiana.

this pseudo-news is filling a vacuum. 9/11 has faded from the consciousness of the public, the war on terror goes on in murky subterranean ways....so what do we have? a mother smacks around her child and the media begin to howl. this is a non-story, the difference is, it was caught on tape. we have the dumbing down and sensationalizing of news.

The info distribution synapse is so short these days, we just move from one frenzy to the next. All shoved down our throats by folks claiming to be in a "noble profession".

This Illbay/Curry group isn't the only one to engage in this pathetic exhibition but they are certainly the longest running.I just caught this cheap shot, 'arrowup. I don't "gang flag." At most, I'll sometimes bump a thread to three or four straight-thinking all-American FReepers. And that's the exception rather than the rule.
Even if I did "gang flag," what is it to you? Are you incapable of ignoring or scrolling past the posts? Here's a clue: I don't make you angry--you make you angry.
If you don't like it, I suggest you ban yourself. You know, commit suiFReepercide. Orate the orutund opus. Leave for LP'erville.

Cheap shot? I would say it was a direct hit...without any cost to me...so maybe it could be called a good investment.
You are an ill-humored obnoxious blivet...you contribute nothing but a parody of a right wing red neck...not even a good stereotype.
To: contessa machiaveli
You couldn't be more right. One news report had the authorities saying if this hadn't been caught on tape, they probably wouldn't have bothered filing charges or persuing this woman. This little girl has probably allready forgotten the sting of the slaps she got if not the slapping itself. I doubt she'll ever forget how the government came an took her away from her mother and interrogated her for days and then stuck her with strangers.
