I am wondering if the child, somehow gave away the scam she was trying to pull on the store. I am not saying that it is a justification, I'm just wondering that set her off, or the fact that her scam didn't work at all.

It is possible that the child prevented whatever the perp was trying to scam. I believe that she and her sister were thrown out of the store just moments before. Grifters perhaps? That would explain a lot.

This woman reminds me of so many women I am acquainted with who resent their children interfering with the sordid lifestyles they would rather be leading.
