Inhofe: Clinton Should be Held Accountable for Failure to Get Bin Laden

Inhofe: Clinton Should be Held Accountable for Failure to Get Bin Laden

WASHINGTON-A senior member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence says ex-President Clinton should be held accountable for his decision during his presidency, to give terrorist leader Osama bin Laden a pass. That confession by the impeached 42nd president was revealed in a taped statement publicized exclusively by NewsMax.com

Reacting to that tape, Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla., in a statement relayed by his spokesman Gary Hoitsma, says Clinton’s comments constitute "an admission that he didn’t seriously go after Osama bin Laden,” although Clinton tried to justify it in "a self-serving” manner.

Inhofe, who is also the ranking Republican on the Armed Services Committee’s Subcommittee on Readiness and Management Support, tells NewsMax that Clinton "is admitting that he didn’t go after them [al-Qaeda] when he could have, and he’s making excuses as to why he couldn’t or wouldn’t.”

Asked how the former chief executive should be held accountable, Hoitsma, again speaking for the senator, replied, "We would want to do that in some way. It’s a matter of picking the right forum.” Presidents and ex-presidents are rarely called before congressional committees.

At the moment the Intelligence Committee is looking into some things that went on in the intelligence community leading up to 9/11, although that probe "is not a matter of holding anyone accountable for wrongdoing or anything like that,” Hoitsma notes.

Some lawmakers have privately complained to NewsMax.com that the Intelligence Committee channels so much of what it does through so many political filters so as to reach a consensus that very little is accomplished when it comes to pressing for accountability.

Senator Inhofe says "objectively,” during the Clinton presidency, "not very much was done to deal with some of the terrorist incidents that had happened during that time.” Each time terrorist acts were committed, they were viewed by the Clintonites as law enforcement issues "instead of acts of war against America.”

The Oklahoma conservative listed the first World Trade Center bombing in 1998, the Khobar Towers bombing in Saudi Arabia in 1996 (death toll: 17), the embassy bombings in Africa (killing over 200), and violent action against the USS Cole (leaving 17 American sailors dead).

These attacks on Clinton’s watch were "downplayed,” and there were "never serious consequences for the perpetrators.”

Inhofe sees 1998 as "the lost year,” when the entire country was focused on a single issue (the Monica Lewinsky scandal) "that had nothing to do with any serious public policy.”

As the senator sees it, this was "when the [then] president was lying to the country [and under oath] about his personal problems,” and "dragged the country through the trauma of an impeachment trial.”

You are correct. I saw Albright on Fox News interviewed by John Gibson. She said that the reason they did'nt take military action against Bin Laden was because they did'nt have a "popular consensus". Gibson then asked her, " Then, why did'nt you GET a popular consensus?" She responded that they just never tried.

Of course, we now have her heinous denying there was ever any discussion about Sudan turning over OBL. Next week she'll be denying the very existence of OBL.

"As the senator sees it,
this was "when the [then] president was lying
to the country [and under oath]
about his personal problems,”
and "dragged the country through the
trauma of an impeachment trial.”

All he had to do was tell the truth, but he and his wife, the world's smartest man and woman, conspired to deny, distract, destroy, deflect and obstruct just so that the co-presidents could keep their sorry frivolous big butts in the WH and in power at all costs to America and her citizens security.

Now they both have the nerve to demand that American hard working taxpayers pay their legal fees.

I'm thinking America is already paying a very heavy price for Mr. and Mrs. Clinton's personal choice to avoid responsibility and accountability.

I am thankful that President George W. Bush is a man blessed with the very vital and critical ingredients for all great presidents; moral fiber, authority, and sacred honor that enables him to forge ahead with his carefully and brilliantly deliberate chartered course of action despite all of the elite's criticisms, the leftist bashing, the Daschle Democrat obstructionism, and Euro whining, to do what needs to be done to clean up the mess that Clinton and his Administration failed to do other than lifting one waggling finger while spouting pretty fluffy words in front of the cameras. And meaningless words was all it was and all it will ever be.

May God Bless America, our President, George W. Bush, and the men and women in America's great Armed Forces.

The best way to punish bill clinton is to ignore him. All the time. Let's start now.

I hope the people of OK won't fall again for Dave Walters, a clintoid to the core, as they did in 1990. On the same day that bILLclinton won his last term as governor in AR, neighbor Dave won his only term in OK. Jim Inhofe will be the best senator left in 2003 -- if he can win again. I am hopeful that the people of OK will keep him, but I am a little uneasy about his prospects, given the traditional Democratic nature of OK. Yes, I know it has been heavily Republican since 1992, but ten years can end overnight in politics. I would imagine that Walter will make "the economy" his issue and blame a rise in unemployment on the GOP.

The attack on the World Trade Center was one installment.
The attack on the U.S.S. Cole was another installment.
We still have to deal with Red China and the military secrets to improve their military and the military equipment they export to our enemies.

There is much more American blood to be spilled on down the road because of clinton's treason.

To answer the sage who said during the impeachment hearings,"What harm can he do?"
So far:
1. The attack on the U.S.S. Cole.
2. The attack on the World Trade Center.

So true, how unfortunately true. What will be even worse is if enough Americans don't realize it, and the cycle is repeated once again, but this time with a nuke.

I have heard both clinton and albright state that the political climate wasn't right for an attack on OBL.

Yeah. Of course "the political climate wasn't right"!

clinton and Halfbright were in cahoots with al Qaeda, and the rest of the international islamic jihad, in their horrific attack on the Christian Serbs!!!!

traitorrapist42 was offered OBL by Sudan and declined.

July 20, 1998 he ejaculated 90 cruise missiles on an aspirin factory and two adobe hovels.

December, 1998 he ejaculated 444 cruise missiles on sand.

In the first instance, it was the Leno-labeled "Operation Blow Monica Off the Front Page".

In the second, it was to distract from and to delay Impeachment.

Clinton allowed OBL to participate in the first WTC bombing (1993), the Mogadishu massacre (1993), the Khobar Towers bombing (1996), the Embassy bombings (1998), the Cole bombing (2000). [And the jury is still out on Middle Eastern Arabs involved in the OKCBomb.]

Clinton gutted counterintelligence and counterterrorist intelligence.

Chelsea bought the 24-volume commentary on the Koran. Hillary was Pom Pom Girl for the Palestinian State and Suha's Smoocher. Bill was busy betraying Israel with his Carville-coup installing Barak.

Inhofe is awesome, and is just as astute on the Taiwan situation.

Memo to Oklahoma: Do yourselves a big, big favor and keep this keeper.

As for traitorrapist42, do a tox screen on this HIV-positive coke head has-been.

That way he can be triaged to the right section of Leavenworth.

wow, Walters was supposed to be on the Ron Brown plane that crashed and at the last minute canceled, he really is a friend of bill's.

And Inhofe, remember when he was scheduled to meet clinton in OK City for some public speech and he had to land his small plane on the highway because somebody partially dis-assembled his propeller before he took off? The screw holding the propeller on had been purposely taken off, that can't possibly happen by accident. Then while in flight the propeller mysteriously fell off, but Inhofe landed the plane safely anyway ... ... on a highway. That was when Clinton failed to get Inhofe. It was only a few weeks after Inhofe gave a big anti-clinton speech on the senate floor basically outlining some aspect or another of clinton's slime-ball character.

What's really unforgivable is the U.S Senate failed to remove Bill Clinton from office even though it might have well saved over 3,000 American lives. I hope the Senators who voted to acquit him are haunted by the consequences of their deed for the rest of their lives.
