Yeah. That's really fair.
But it is 'fair' for the congressman to try and spend the least amount of money by going with a company that hirers illegals and thus spends less on their labor costs.
Sounds like the congressman just doesn't like the looks of illegals, but when they are behind the scenes, like doing the dishes at a restaurant, then they are okay.

Even if the workers were in the country illegally, "what is my responsibility at this point in time?" Tancredo said in a telephone interview from Washington. "I go to dinner at restaurants and probably have come into contact with people who are here illegally. I do not ask, of course. It is actually illegal and you can be sued." What part of ILLEGAL do you not understand?

Instead of being snotty, reread teh article.
Teh company claims that it only hires legal immigrants. Was Tancredo supposed to check the papers of the subcontractor?

None of you let facts get in the way of a good lie.

Sounds like you are one of those people who thinks we should just pretend that the United States doesn't have borders and everyone who just shows up should have the full benefit of citizenship -- even after having broken American law to get here.

Actually, Congressman Tancredo placed his trust in the contractor, Creative Drywall Designs and the contractor placed their trust on the subcontractor, Denver Audio Design that they were following the employment laws of Colorado and the United States.
When the illegal aliens applied for employment, they did not disclosure their true immigration status, and that is where the trouble started.

Ask the owner of a restaurant if he has any illegal aliens working in the restaurant's kitchen before making the decision to dine at that particular restaurant? And do you honestly think that a restaurant owner would admit to violating immigration laws by stating that he has illegal alien employees working for him?

Are you trying to say, lelio, that, when you go to eat at a restaurant, you go back to the kitchen and confirm the immigration status of every restaurant worker in the place?
When you go shopping at Safeway, you ask the store manager to give you an affidavit that all his employees have legal immigration status?
You do the same when you hire a bonded contractor to do a construction project for you?
I'm impressed.

But it is 'fair' for the congressman to try and spend the least amount of money by going with a company that hirers illegals and thus spends less on their labor costsI just had half a dozen companies bid on a job for me. I'm going with the low bidder. How the hell am I supposed to know what their hiring practices are?
Or should I just go with the highest bidder?< /sarcasm >
