Mycoplasma hyorhinus which was called Atypical piroplasmic pleuropneumonia. I hate it when someone uses initials to describe a disease in an article when it hasn't been spelled out in the previous paragraphs. APP was used in the 1960's to the best of my memory. It causes a nasty pneumonia and arthritis and pneumonia in young pigs.

I've looked for another article on this incident but WLNS seems to be the only one with it so far.

I wonder what the plan is to propogate this microbe. As I recall growing Mycoplasma is pretty difficult.
