Israeli intelligence sources say the two former enemies have been working together on building up Saddam's Scud missile capability, possibly allowing him to strike Israel using weapons of mass destruction. Isn't Israeli intelligence fairly accurate?

Exactly when did missplaced Russian nukes become news? Russin nuke horror stories have been circulating ever since the fall of the Berlin wall.

TWO hundred nuclear warheads have gone missing in a country suspected of selling high tech arms to Iraq, it emerged last night. The terrifying revelation will heighten fears that Saddam Hussein could be just one step away from having all the ingredients of an atomic bomb.
This is impossible. Pat Buchanan says that Iraq is not a threat and cannot be close to building a nuclear weapon.

No time to waste ..... before it's too late.

Somebody should stick to Hollywood gossip.
To: E. Pluribus Unum
Exactly. And NONE of them have ever been substantiated.
To: Salvation
if one of these nuke heads is in
fact found in Bagdad,besides Dudley
to the rescue great war feats by us
and allies" the socialist dems and
unelected congress(the media) are
gonna be exposed and the domino

Reckon there will be
resistance to that ?

Of course, the most reasonable explanation is that Ukraine decided it would be nice to remain a nuclear power in its own right, and the warheads thereby became conveniently "lost."
Remember: there's no love lost between Russia and the Ukraine. Indeed, IIRC many Ukrainians originally welcomed the Nazis, who were seen as saviors from Russian tyranny....
The basic enmity has probably not gone away, so the motive for Ukraine holding back a few bombs is clear. Sort of a megaton version of the 2nd Amendment, to prevent the Russians from conquering them again.

The terrifying revelation will heighten fears that Saddam Hussein could be just one step away from having all the ingredients of an atomic bomb.Pardon my ignorance, but if Hussein bought one of these warheads, wouldn't he already have an atomic bomb? What else would he need?
The part of this whole debate that has never made any sense to me is the constant assertion that Hussein (or any other dictator) is "attempting to acquire" a nuke, or any other WMD.
What's stopping them? They've had over 11 years since Desert Storm; I find it easier to believe that they've bought several warheads than that they're "close" to having some type of WMD.
I understand the process of refining or obtaining enriched fissile material is difficult, painstaking, complex, expensive, etc., but they've had over a decade, and get more than $6 billion a year in oil sales. Isn't it unreasonable to assume that they haven't bought or built something by now? Any feedback/explanations from someone with some knowledge on these matters would be much appreciated.
