Like any FReeper worth his or her salt, I'd like to hope that I would have done the same.

You are semi-racists by using WASPs. Americans are any nationality that live here and love this and what it stands for. Unless you are Native American, your ancestors (or you) immigrated from some other country.

Interesting semi-racist post.
When the Titanic went down, Americans wept for the victims and raised as emblems of manhood those heroes who saved others and went down on the ship. Capt. Archie Butt, who kept order on the deck with the sight of his pistol and the pull of his strong arm, particularly, was seen as the paragon of Anglo-Saxon manhood. This, of course, opposed to all those Italians, Irish, and other scum who rushed the life rafts.
Now, what's the difference here? Equality in 1912 was for Anglo-Saxons. Equality today is for all Americans.
Those were not serfs who submit to the nearest authority that rushed the cockpit on #93.

Exactly! American is a state of mind, not a skin color.

>>>>...To the Muslims in America: Would you have exchanged high-fives with your "brothers" on the plane? Wished them well? Accepted their apologies for the unfortunate need for your demise? Said with them, "Allah akbar," and asked to go to the cockpit so you could have a good view of the "glorious strike against the infidels"? >>>>>>>

Pinged for an answer, and here it is. I'm not exactly sure what my exact course of action would be.... as to how to stop the terrorist.
Prior to this madness of uanarmming all passengers I've always had a sharp pocket knife (you know the kind an Old Timer 3 blade with one about 3" long so I would have had it on this flight) that would have been stuck into one of the hi-jacker(s) or slashed the throat(s) of as many as I could take by surprise. One thing we can assume - the action was quick on flight #93; assume like-wise in an unfortunate incident where every move counts towards life or death by how you choose to help in being part of the solution. Even if I died for my actions in a hyupothetical as you ask - I would die moving forward.

For serious discussion of Flight 93 and its fate go to the discussion board on www.airdisaster.com. Many pilots and aeronautical engineers post there.

"I would die moving forward."
Absolutely. If you know its going to happen anyway, die on your feet fighting.

I'm not a psychoanylist but in my opinion ANY or ALL of the passengers would have acted against the terrorist because of the human instinct for survival.I would have done the same as Todd Beamer as a natural instinct for survival because I knew if I had not acted I would have perished anyway, and acted in the hope for survival of myself and all the other passengers.

Not semi-racist. Had nothing to do with WASPs. Had nothing to do with Americans of other extractions (we are all extracted from somewhere). Had a lot to do with a culture of democracy and independent action. Had a lot to do with the comfortable use of freedom. While these things are not unknown in Europe or Asia or South America, they are still very strong here.
Thanks for the observation.

What would I have done on Flight 93? I would have taken my .357 Sig that I should been allowed to carry on the plane, and shot every terrorist dead before they cut anyone's throat.Given the effects of adrenalin on marksmanship, I have three questions for you.
How many nonterrorists would you consider to be "acceptable breakage?"
Are you sure you'd have enough ammunition?
How well would you perform if the terrorists started shooting back at you?

You're only unarmed if you're mentally and morally unarmed--and a pocketknife (or a submachiengun) is not sufficient to overcome such self-disarmament.

To: Congressman Billybob; PsyOp
What would you have done, on Flight 93? It stands as a challenge which will resound though time . . .
To: Poohbah
How many nonterrorists would you consider to be "acceptable breakage?" compared to kamikazeeing into the Capitol, you mean?
