S.A. Woman Charged $32 For Opinion
Fax Company Profits From Controversy

SAN ANTONIO -- A San Antonio woman was recently charged $32.45 for her opinion on a hot topic.
Susan Lyman-Krom (pictured, left) said she decided to respond to a poll from an unsolicited fax whether the phrase "One nation under God" should be removed from the Pledge of Allegiance.
"I felt strongly about that question," Lyman-Krom said in an interview with KSAT 12 News.
After writing down her vote, Lyman-Krom faxed her opinion to a 900 number.
According to the fax, calls cost $2.95 a minute. The average fax takes about two minutes in standard mode, the fax stated.
"We figured it would cost $6," Lyman-Krom said.
But when Lyman-Krom received her bill, she said she was shocked to see that she was charged $32.45 for an 11-minute fax by Right2Vote Limited, a Canadian company.
"I think it's a scam," Lyman-Krom added. "I think its a way to hit a nerve with the general public on a heated issue. They are turning right around and collecting all this money on a phone call."
Lyman-Krom said that AT&T told her that the 900 number she called belonged to British Fax Directory.
British Fax Directory is a subsidiary of 21st Century Fax, a London-based company that was fined $1 million by the Federal Communications Commission for junk faxes.
KSAT 12 News tried to contact Right2Vote, but there was no telephone number listed. A phone number to remove a fax machine from the company's list was constantly busy.

I'm a lawyer, and I've noticed a few unkind jokes about my profession, only they're generally a lot nastier than blonde jokes.
In your jokes, you don't generally end up DEAD.
Now, lighten up.

Okay, well you people know how I feel about being insulted by your "dumb blonde" jokes. I have been an avid fan of Free Republic for a couple years now but I guess it's time I find a new hang out. I thought I had something in common with you people because I am a life-long conservative but apparently not. Before I say good-bye can I ask you if any of you have young blonde daughters? Would you like it if they were constantly offended and poked fun of like you are doing to me on this thread? btw, welcome to FReeperWorld ...

Did you hear about the two blondes who walked into a building?Clever. A joke that has its punchline built into its set-up.
To: Brad C.
If they put up with it, it must be they got their genetics from you.
To: Ben Ficklin
Oh, man, in directing her to that site she has more fodder for her "lawsuit."

Oops, looks like I did get confused. Thanks for clearing that up.
Hope that doesn't lead to any dumb Texan jokes.

I'm a lawyer . . .In fact, lawyers know the best lawyer jokes and are often loathe to share them outside the profession.

Being a lawyer is not genetic, you could have chosen another profession.

They may not care now, but they will some day after years of being tormented and insulted. They're 24 and doing way better than you are in this area.

Q. What's the difference between a brunette and some household garbage?
A. The trash gets taken out once in a while.

Ah but there it is. Being teased for something that one has chosen is worse than for something you are born with. For the latter, you can just shrug it off as something beyond your control. It doesn't reflect on you. But the former, it can lead to self-doubts about one's own judgements and decisions.

You are pretty arrogant aren't you?

"Why should blondes have to tolerate being discriminated against when it is illegal to discriminate against others?"
I'm sympathetic to your feelings, but you must understand that many on FreeRepublic are WHAM's, the one group that is discriminated against by virtually all non-WHAM's and the WHAMs seem to have no recourse, legal or otherwise.

A Blond is driving down a country road running adjacent to a golf course. She looks out her car window and see's another blond sitting in a row boat and paddling furiously on the green of the seventh hole.
She is incensed and shouts at the Blond in the dry locked boat, "It's People like you who give Blonds a bad name."
Then after pausing for a moment she adds,"And if I could swim I would come over there and kick the snippets out of you!!"
