Well I hope you won't leave FR because some jokes were directed at you. This can be a tough crowd, but its just the internet.
I don't have a blonde daughter, so can't exactly relate, but remember being picked on as a kid. Many of us could list the horrid things we were called, the harrassment, the ostracizing. Kids can be incredibly mean. I had to hear it for a year in 5th grade because I let a girl beat me up(I was taught to never, ever hit a girl, and my smart mouth pushed one over the edge.) But that's just a part of growing up, learning to deal with the unfair hardships that will come throughout life, often at the worst times.
I'm sure it has to be one of the most frustrating things in the world to see your child be picked on or suffer unfairly. Thank goodness you have the good motherly instincts to want to protect her in any and every way. But I doubt that anyone here is trying to inflict that type of pain by making a joke, and one of our tenets of conservatism is learning to deal with adversity. Sometimes its the tough challenges that build our character and make us stronger, giving us skills that we can return to later in life when similar troubles arise.

"The woman in the picture is not a natural blonde (you can see her dark roots and her dark eyebrows). I looked again and I swear those roots are dyed black.
I have two blond daughters and I would never think of making blond jokes about them. I just consider certain lapses to be blond moments.

You must be some middle-aged white male correct?Hey! I'm offended by that.
You ARE a blond. Correct?

I have been lurking on Free Republic for a long time now but only recently decided to post something. It had to do with asking knitters who post on Free Republic if they would be interested in joining Project Warm the Troops! (as was written about in Vogue Knitting a few months back). So tata to you to jerk.

DO more luder there, Hool!

I have been collecting data for quite a while now and am interested in filing a lawsuit against websites, etc. that produce blonde jokes if I can find a lawyer willing to take the case. Ah, that's the ol' conservative spirit at work. Find a trial lawyer to enforce your sense of political correctness.
Sue to prove that jokes are no laughing matter.

Before I say good-bye can I ask you if any of you have young blonde daughters?Yes...Twins.
Would you like it if they were constantly offended and poked fun of like you are doing to me on this thread?
Doesn't matter what I like or not...they have a fair sense of humor, and a real sense of who they are...unlike you, thinskin.
Go file a lawsuit, and head over to DU.
Sheesh and good-bye.

Ya, when it comes to being insulted by middle-aged white males with inferiority complexes . . .See? That's the idea. Not too bad. Not too bad at all.

After writing down her vote, Lyman-Krom faxed her opinion to a 900 number. D'OH!
To: Dog Gone
Where's Nitz when you need her? Blondie has more of those kind of jokes at the ready than anyone I know.
To: RepublicanHippy
Actually, it is common practice around my home to swap blonde jokes with my 16 and 18 year old daughters, both as blonde as can be. You must really be having a bad today, why not go take a long hot shower and relax a little bit.

Diddle - I think you're getting 2 messages mixed up - I'm the one with the blond daughter, not the originator of this post. My daughter grew up in Hawaii and will practically cuss out anyone that looks at her crosswise! Talk about a blond that had to grow up with hard knocks!!

"No, I am not ever going to get used to it. It is rude and offensive and terribly hard on young blonde girls in school or in the workplace to have to be the object of "dumb blonde" jokes. I have been collecting data for quite a while now and am interested in filing a lawsuit against websites, etc. that produce blonde jokes if I can find a lawyer willing to take the case. Why should blondes have to tolerate being discriminated against when it is illegal to discriminate against others?"1. Lighten up.
2. Your lawsuit will only make your lawyers rich, and in any event, you will lose because this country allows free speech.
3. Lighten up.
4. Your post is tending to reinforce the "dumb blonde" theorem:)
5. For pete's sake, lighten up. I'm a blonde also, with a sense of humor, and I'm not offended by blonde jokes. Truth be known, most of them are variations of old polish jokes. Most polacks I know smile when they hear such jokes, and refuse to react. That's the way blondes should react also. It diffuses the situation.
Now go out there and make up some "dumb brunette" jokes!

They may not care now, but they will some day after years of being tormented and insulted. It becomes especially difficult in the workplace for blondes.
To: Chad Fairbanks
Did you hear about the two blondes who walked into a building?
To: RepublicanHippy
Relax! Most of them are pipsqueaks, I tell you. They are nervous, noisy little chihuahuas chewing on the toes of your shoes. Their little teeth, though sharp, can barely break the skin.
To: RepublicanHippy
It had to do with asking knitters who post on Free Republic if they would be interested in joining Project Warm the Troops! Sounds like a good project. Are you sure want to give up promoting it here over a raucous thread? Remember, only a very tiny percent of Freepers post to any one thread, so I would take the reactions on any particular thread as representative of the entire FR community.
To: Dog Gone
It has nothing to do with political correctness. I am not into political correctness. However, it (suing) seems to work for other groups and I am tired of being insulted.
