It's a "she said, he said" situation, and both players are not completely credible to me. One of the players has the Chucky-Schumer Syndrome, and the other player is trying to save his bum from prosecution.

Even Chuck Schumer probably tells the truth once in a while when he is in front of the camera.

It's a "he said, she said" situation, but that doesn't mean the young men aren't lying.

Sometimes things turn out to be very close to black and white, after the deliberate muddying of the situation is removed.

We'll just have to wait to learn the truth. Meanwhile, lies and truths will be broadcast and people will talk.

Humanity is a gossipy bunch.

Why did two bomb sniffing dogs alert? Or did the media get it wrong?

Miss. Pie, the bomb sniffing dogs alerted because that's what the authorities wanted them to do. When denied permission to search the car, they had to have an excuse, so they call the dogs. The dogs will "alert" on any damn thing the handler tells them to alert on. It's BS - purely a way to say they had probable cause to search the car.

If they ever want to search your bags or your car or your house or your person, they will get the dogs, and they will indicate that you have whatever contraband is necessary to permit a more thorough search.

Just keep this in mind - watch for all the news stories you see where a dog alerted for the presence of explosives and there is nothing there. They have close to 100% false-positive failure rate.

May I ask how you decided on your screen name??

One of my hobbies/part-time job is to teach high school students how to beat the SAT test.

Therefore, when a parent wants his child to go to an Ivy League school, he will hire me to "coach" his child into a higher score.

Therefore, sometimes I joke that I can raise anyone's IQ with my services---from LO_IQ to HI_IQ is a slogan on my business card

Thanks for the explanation. It was unusual is why I asked.

The reasonable implication given by the Emphasis you added is that I said they were. The entire point of your comment was to refute the idea that they were lying. In actual fact nobody ever said they were.

The accusation was in reference to your claim in #167 that I said something I did not.

You credited a statement to me that was actually made by another poster.

To me this illustrates my point about the three men. I am sure you are honest and well meaning. However, in your onservation of this thread you mistakenly attributed comments to me which I never said. Do you think the same thing could happen to an honest and wee meaning Mrs. Stone?

I haven't read this whole thread, as we have been out, so let me ask you this: has anybody mentioned the report on CNN tonight about these men stopping at the first rest stop, talking to the press, then leaving, only to turn around and go WEST with "a man they had met at the rest area who told them he would take them somewhere they could rest before they finished their trip?"

I saw the reporter say that myself, in a live shot from the first toll both past the rest area.

News Release from Larkin Community Hospital about three "medical students"

This "News Release" says absolutely nothing ...... but that may be very telling in itself. The Hospital doesn't sound exactly eager to claim these three guys.

Gee, maybe they should hire me. I have had 100% success with my reports of (15 or so) natural gas leaks. Maybe I can be retrained for a new career : )

Olando Salinez was on a FOX newsbreak and said that the 3 guys admitted that they said it because they were tired of being looked at funny since 9/11, so they decided to pull a practical joke.

It will be buried on page 42 of the classifieds as a correction to the front page article " Racist Florida Pigs Rough Up Muslims" .....

No, I have not heard that, nor seen that on the thread (which is clipping along pretty well so far). Thanks for mentioning that...

I have believed this for many years.

What you call reasonable implication could be NOT reasonable to others. I am amazed that 3 capital letters can set you off like a rocket. You are assuming that you read my mind about the word NOT.....I still stand by my statement - no matter which poster said it...the police did NOT lie.

"Do you think the same thing could happen to an honest and wee meaning Mrs. Stone?"

Mrs Stone was not only well meaning - she is a patriotic American and I salute her and hope that God will bless her for having the courage to come forward and tell the truth.

I just am having a very difficult time trying to understand why you you think that Eunice is lying and that the Muslim guys didn't say something volatile.

I don't think Eunice is lying at all. I think she is telling the truth as to what she believes. I also think it is probable that she is mistaken, at least in part. It happens all of the time. Look at some of the confusion right here on this thread where everything is recorded in writing. It is possible to overhear a conservation and get th wrong gist of it. That's all I'm saying. And the only reason I have my doubts is the way the police acted after the facts came out.

I don't feel like a rocket. Perhaps you are assuming that you read my mind about the response.

In any event, we agree on two things:

1. The police did not lie.

2. Mrs Stone was not only well meaning - she is a patriotic American.

And I also salute her and hope that God will bless her for having the courage to come forward and tell the truth.

Maybe the FBI told the locals to lay off. Perhaps they've been looking into these guys for awhile, or maybe, just maybe, they'll be watched now.

What if her son says that heheard the same thing ? What if there are other witnesses. How much " proof " do you demand , before you will believe ? This isn't like some fast moving rumor, she heard it. Replying to a thread ( you can hit the wrong nic, to reply to, you can forget whi said what, after reading 100s of posts, etc. ) isn't the same thing as HEARING someone /s say something loud enough for you to hear.

That one I am paranoid about too. After replacing our gas dryer I kept sniffing the junction to the gas line every 15 minutes, all day, just to make sure I wouldn't be blown out of my bed that night.
