HELP REQUIRED FROM LOYAL PEJMANPUNDIT READERS I was reflecting last night on how there are regular appeals to donate money to various and sundry charities. These appeals come through all sorts of media; television, radio, the Internet, and mass mailings. Many of these charities are worthy and worthwhile in nature. In fact, a number of charities saw a dramatic uptick in contributions in the wake of September 11th, when people contributed money for relief efforts in dedicated to helping the victims.
It occurred to me, however, that we do not have a charity dedicated to assisting the war on terrorism.
Oh, I know, the Defense Department gets hundreds of billions of dollars a year. And of course, it would be very difficult to raise the kind of money needed to make a noticeable difference in the funding of the defense budget.
But still, I thought that perhaps people might want to be able to give some money to the Defense Department. It might help increase the pay for some soldiers, or assist in augmenting the quality of the benefits they receive, or even help in housing.
And it might allow for at least some extra funding to increase weapons purchases. Who knows? It would depend on the amount of money we get.
So with that, I introduce to you, a new website I have created, and which is currently in extremely crude form: Adopt-A-Bomb. Perhaps for pennies a day, you too could adopt a thermobaric weapon, or even a Daisycutter. Based on the amount you give, you would be able to receive a picture and file discussing your adopted munition in detail. You could even get your name or message inscribed on your adopted bomb before it is dropped in the search for Islamofascists and/or Republican Guard contingents.
Okay, maybe that last bit was somewhat facetious. But I think that it might be a good idea for people to be able to express their support for the war on terrorism by being able to contribute what they could to the military.
Of course, this idea could also completely flop. But I know for a fact that it will definitely fail if it is not tried. And in any event, I want to be able to get feedback from my faithful readers.
Now, some questions:
1. Will people be able to claim a charitable contribution on their tax deductions if they contribute to Adopt-A-Bomb (somehow, I doubt it--I don't know if you can claim a deduction if you contribute to the government, but I would be interested in finding out. I will make sure to research the issue myself).
2. How best to arrange for payments to be able to go to the Defense Department? Somehow, I doubt that an Amazon or PayPal button will be sufficient. I have to know who to talk to, so if anyone knows anyone . . .
3. Perhaps some sort of classification system for contributors would be necessary. Say, a "Privates' Barracks" for people who contribute up to $50. Then a "Lance Corporal's Club" for people who contribute $51-100, and so on.
There may be more issues to resolve, and if you can think up any further questions, please feel free to let me know. Muse away.

You could get these kids to Fly the drones and target the MUZ.
The benefits? These kids are not only good at THE GAMES but will PAY $10.00 -$20.00 and hour for the S%$ts and Giggles
It's just a thought !
This B61-11 needs to find a good home. Please give generously.
Could we also buy rounds of ammunition, for say $.01 each to give to our favorite commando unit?
A company collected enough money to buy a 500-lb bomb and sent it to a defense department contractor, or something like that.
I know it was a private company that bought a bomb for the defense department.
