George W. Bush is back, big time. In fact with a roar.
He seemed to lie low this summer, but Wednesday he re-emerged to lead the nation and stand for all it has been through this year. He spoke of mourning and memory, of our purpose and our plans. He was inspiriting.

Is this a Bushism on the part of Noonan?
As I watched the speech yesterday, I kept thinking of passages from the presidents's Inaugral Address, they seem prophetic:
"Through much of the last century, America's faith in freedom and democracy was a rock in a raging sea. Now it is a seed upon the wind, taking root in many nations. -snip-
"Some seem to believe that our politics can afford to be petty because, in a time of peace, the stakes of our debates appear small.
But the stakes for America are never small. If our country does not lead the cause of freedom, it will not be led. If we do not turn the hearts of children toward knowledge and character, we will lose their gifts and undermine their idealism. If we permit our economy to drift and decline, the vulnerable will suffer most. -snip-

We will confront weapons of mass destruction, so that a new century is spared new horrors.
The enemies of liberty and our country should make no mistake: America remains engaged in the world by history and by choice, shaping a balance of power that favors freedom. We will defend our allies and our interests. We will show purpose without arrogance. We will meet aggression and bad faith with resolve and strength. And to all nations, we will speak for the values that gave our nation birth. -snip-

God bless you all, and God bless America."
I think W is the angel in the whirlwind directing this storm.
inspirit v.t. -ited -iting 1. To infuse life or spirit into; to animate; encourage; invigorate.

I don't think he was seeking the UN's approval. I think he told them what we were going to do and, as a courtesy, he was giving them the opportunity to do "the right thing."
Let's rebuild the Twin Towers, and then house the U.N. in the top floors. Maybe then they'd get it!
Go Peggy!
