This is important enough to merit a short thread, I believe.
About a week ago Senator Nickles of Oklahoma said he specifically asked the President if he wanted an Iraq resolution before the October recess, and the President answered "Yes."
Today, Fox was interviewing Senator Warner of Virginia, who said that the President has specifically asked members of BOTH parties and BOTH houses of Congress for a resolution before the October recess, and the meeting took place in the cabinet room. I am assuming this is the meeting at which Senator Nickles was present, and I would assume Senator Daschle was also present.
THEN, Daschle comes out saying the President hasn't yet made his case, and says that placing a resolution in front of the Senate is "premature" because "the President hasn't asked for one yet."
This statement by Daschle is therefore an obvious lie, and I am trying to get as many people aware of this as possible.
The comments are on tape, so I am hopeful Fox will air them this evening, and also hopeful talk radio will pick up on the comments.
Senator Warner was quite impassioned, and said that international cooperation will fall away if we do NOT get a resolution demonstrating solidarity with the President.

Maybe Daschle is attempting to parse words in the great tradition of another shameless RAT. Hopefully he is committing political suicide by constantly stonewalling and obstructing the administration in matters of national defense. Time for me to send him another poison email.

Why wouldn't the President make a public request? This is an important national issue.

"Remember what Bush said to Daschle down in the well at his first State of the Union address?" No, but I remember what he said to Tiny Tommie when he arrived at the WH for a meeting:
"I hope you never lie to me."
Tiny Tommie has not yet learnt his lesson.

Beady Eyed Daschle lies every time he speaks, he know no other way. He belongs to the evil side.

Well, he probably didn't think that he needed to make a public request when he was in the room with a whole bunch of senators of both parties!
I bet Daschle gets a public request NOW, however! Ha!
To: Howlin
Lott and McCain are making the case for a resolution NOW. McCain, despite previous doubts, has come through for this President solidly.

Yes, that's what I'm talking about. I thought it was in the well of the House though. Thanks for the correction!

Don't show you hand to your enemies, that sort of thing. Why telegraph a punch, y'knowwhutimean?

Glad you saw it, too! It was quite striking, wasn't it?
Warner went on and on about how important a resolution was, and how the President had asked them for one before the recess.
Obviously, Daschle didn't hear Warner, and made his foolish statement! HA!

THEN, Daschle comes out saying the President hasn't yet made his case, and says that placing a resolution in front of the Senate is "premature" because "the President hasn't asked for one yet." A Lot of people have been documenting Daschle's then and now lies. Betty's Mailbox has a good page up on it.

Also shows Clinton's convenient flip flop on Iraq (more accurately not a flip flop cause he never was into it in the first place). Anyhow, I agree with you. Daschle is lying and just in this for the political gain.

I think Dubya has been giving little Tommy plenty of rope and is about to bring this dog up short.

What's Daschle thinking? Whent he hosue passes its resolution what's he gonna do? Stall on it?
To: Miss Marple
When someone lies on national television when it is so easy to discover the truth, what does that say about the person? Pathological? Definitely unsuited psychologically for the presidency. Daschle isn't equipped mentally to be dog catcher, and yet maintains aspirations to the highest office in the land. There's a disconnect with reality.
