KSFO sponsered the unfurling of the largest United States Flag today in Alameda.
There were over a thousand patriots here and it took over a thousand to keep the flag flying for over an hour. After this grate Patriotic Event I ventured over to San Francisco and encountered the communist terrorist supporters.

Since Alcatraz is still a federal facility see if that wonderful balloon could be tethered there. It'd be right in the middle of the air show! That would really be something! How much wind is there?

Hey, O.V. is GRATE! Sometimes I laugh so hard I almost have to pull over.
They're all terrific.

So that makes California home to the three largest American flags in the country..... Nice photograph. Thanks....
I wonder what was grown to make the blue in the image?
To: abner
Our weather is so interesting it's hard to say. Could be none, could be 55 knots like during the Tall Ship Parade.
What are the wind parameters?
We were lucky the last two Fleet Weeks as the weather was reasonably fair and warm.

Your welcome Justy!
I hope to make it down there again in the not too distant future past...
Here is a sequence of the flag "catching air" and then being put away for transport.

Anything over 7 knots and we can't even take it out of the bag. Imagine a GIANT sail. Well, kind of like the one in the photos on this thread. When we inflate, if the wind is too high, it won't inflate to vertical.

I wonder what was grown to make the blue in the image? Larkspur. All three colors are larkspur.
To: abner
Believe me, I understand sails! We do sail-training for at-risk youth on our boat!
Let's think of someplace in the lee of the City. Anyplace in front of the Ferry Bldg down to Pier 40 (Pac Bell Park) is good - OK protected from the wind. The ferry piers (Pier One, Pier 1/2) might work. The Port Pilots are at Pier 9, they might help. Either of these would be highly visible.
Anyone else have any suggestions for a highly visible, wind protected spot??

Larkspur? Dang, I am not even sure what that is. Is that kinda like Lantana? Shows what I know when it comes to flowers...
To: Syncro
Thanks again for these great images of the greatest flag on Earth....
To: Joe Hadenuf
yw, and there is a town in Marin County called Larkspur...now I know why it is named that.
I thouhgt it waz named that cause a drugstore cowboy one day wore one spur...kind of as a lark.
Ok ok I gotta go to Ukiah...
Thanks for bumping the thread.

Thanks Syncro! : )
Wanna post the picture of the Corky's Twin Towers t-shirt?
Have a good trip up north.
To: abner
It really depends on the day. If we have a mega-high pressure system sitting right over us there won't be any wind, otherwise the seabreeze is always funneled right through the Gate.
