I agree. My mother thinks that Hillary is wonderful. A lot of pro-choice Republican women would vote for Hillary. She'll do fine in most of the swing states--Ohio, PA, Wisconsin, Michigan. She'll do lousy in the South, but she'll do fine elsewhere, except maybe the plains. She ran an effective campaign in NY, she can raise money, the press will cover for her. What's keeping her from doing well? She'll start out with NY, CA, and IL in her pocket, which ain't chopped liver. She'd win the primaries in a cakewalk against everyone (except Gore in 2004)--and she'd beat him too if she ran in 2004, which she won't.

Whoever runs against Hillary would have to take it to her, ignoring the press's insistence to be nice to her. She must be asked why she didn't attend NY funerals. Unless she can be successfully painted as unpatriotic or her husband as something like a traitor (neither of which have worked with voters yet), I think she'll beat the Republican nominee in 2008, unless it's Powell or Rice.
