Hunger Strike For Pollard (Students For A Free Pollard...)
Israel National News ^

Posted on 09/11/2002 3:56:42 PM PDT by RCW2001

A group of young Israelis who call themselves "Students For A Free Pollard" are in the midst of a hunger strike, protesting what they say is Israel's abandonment of Jonathan Pollard.

Pollard remains in a North Carolina prison serving a life sentence for passing confidential US documents to Israel.

The group has been holding a sit-in opposite the Prime Minister's residence in Jerusalem this week, which coincides with the ten days of repentance (Aseret Yemei Teshuva) between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.

A group spokesman told Arutz Sheva today that the nation of Israel must do teshuva (repent) for "abandoning their brother".

Many supporters have stopped at the site of the protest to show encouragement for those fasting.

The hunger strike, which began on Monday, will conclude Friday night.

Let them starve, let them die and sweep their remains into the guttered waste system where they belong, for it is obvious that their folks don't give a damn...

What can I say. Why would they want a traitor unless he still has info they want.
If he would turn on us, he would turn on them as well.

Pollard is a convicted agent of espionage. It doesn't matter to me about the exculpatories of his case. ANYONE, citizen, friend, foe or ally caught and convicted of spying against the US deserves death. That Pollard has life is mercy.

No country can afford traitors or spys, and any country that does allow them, isn't worth dying for.

Earth to Israelis.
Pollard is not a captive. Teh commandment does not reffer to him and more than it does to the putz who shot Rabin.
Pollard is a traitor to the US and thus a criminal in jail where he belongs. From the pictures, I can tell you that he is well fed with Kosher food.
Go home. Save your strength for fasting on Monday.

I think he should be released. I think the fact he spied for an allied state is a mitigating factor. That doesn't mean I excuse what he did, I don't, I think he's served enough time for his crime. His release should be
pre-conditioned on his renunciation of his American citizenship. He should then be deported to Israel. I think one thing that we might learn from this is that Americans should not be able to hold dual citizenship (I don't know if Pollard held dual citizenship but he obviously had dual loyalties). One cannot serve two masters. If you accept or don't renounce the citizenship of another country you should either not be able to get American citizenship, or lose it if you already have it.

Sorry, I disagree.

While I have great sympathy for Israel, I have none for traitors.

Also, if we let him go, it will encourage others to betray us.

He was trusted with security information and betrayed that trust. Let him rot in his cell, he got off light at that.

Maggie Thatcher has the right idea: Hunger strike? Ok. Goodbye! Pollard and any other traitorous spy does deserve a hanging. Or a ride on Ol' Sparky would suffice.

Yeah, that's a great idea...instead of incarcerating spys let's just ship them back to the countries that paid them to spy on us. Boy, this new policy should act as a great deterrent to any future spying. Now, let's see, Aldridge Ames goes to Russia...(first class or not?). This is kinda like catch and release in trout fishing...great idea.

You are right he should be deported, by the way what is the weight limit for FEDEX? We might have to split him into two or more boxes.

Pollard should continue to rot in prison for betraying his country, the USA. F--k these nutcases and the donkey they rode in on.

The only place Pollard is going is to a new prison when they close Butner.
