I think you all (I am from Florida) should be ashamed of yourself. We don't want problems with elections! It undermines confidence and encourages fraud. I think we have a huge problem with election fraud in this country and I think it should be met with harsh prison terms after vigorous prosecution.

Like or not, we have a two party system here. They deserve to elect whatever idiot they like. As far as the Wookie is concerned, I don't blame her for not conceding. Many ballots in Miami-Dade have not been counted (the first time!). I think we should be upset that this happened, not happy. We need to step back and realize that elections are what we do instead of shooting each other. When you cheat the system or the system fails you, it undermines the sense of pride people take in the system. Jaded voters then rationalize behavior that should make them ashamed. This isn't a sporting event we are talking about here. If the rules don't work, how long before elections lose credibility? This situation is not the same as the Presidential election and we don't have to get even. That situation will _never_ happen again, just because the chances are so, so slim. Lets not do further damage here!

Besides, I would lay even money that the Wookie will pull it out, then get hammered by Bush. We can beat McBride too, but we should respect the selection _process_ of the Democrats, if not the person selected.

To your #59 -- I agree with you and understand why you are upset. When the actual process is a mess we should point our anger that way. The actual process deserves respect ---especially from those who work on it.

I couldn't help but think of your comment about "respecting the selection process". I wonder if Ms.Reno is now waiting to show her high respect for absentee military ballots?

Re Post #59--A good, sensible post. Honest elections should be a must in this country. The criminals who abuse the process should spend time in jail.
