I think a lot of people who usually never voted or voted out of habit suddenly woke up and saw that they had a snake in their back yard.
Plus, this was a primary where voters couldn't take the easy way out and vote a 'straight ticket'

I was trying to say the same thing to all the folks who posted how great it was that Cynthia lost to Denise Majette because Majette will still vote 95% with the Liberal Democratic agenda albiet without Mc Kinney's inflammatory rhetoric

I suspect that father and daughter will come out of the closet - in full Black Islamanazi "black muslim" outfits and threatening manners.... Makes me wonder: When will the Jews and Catholics come to realize that the dims are NOT their friends?

I don't imagine that Noel would have been broadcasting his connection with the Gores in OUR part of the district (give him credit for some brains for that!) . . . but what is the source for this? I find the allegation that he grew up with Al a bit unbelieveable, since Al grew up in D.C. . . .
Noel is a little younger than I am, and in my youth, even in metro Atlanta, Republicans were pointed out as though they were freaks of nature. A girl in my carpool was the only kid in the entire school who had parents who voted Republican . . . and they voted straight ticket! So the fact that he's a Dem doesn't worry me.
Some of his campaign literature nattered on about "sustainable development" but that was the only liberal code word that I ran across. He's mostly interested in improving mass transit, expanding the Chattahoochee River Park (this is a good thing, the river's a mess), and building up business in the urban part of the district. Those are all local issues, and a state representative is not going to get much of a chance to influence stuff on even a statewide level. He's going to spend his time trying to improve things for his constituents -- there are only about 5,000 of us, after all!

I'll have to let my hubby know he might be gay. He was 40 when we got married, and it was his first marriage.
Let the rumors start :-)

"The guy replacing Billy is a Gore clone. In fact they are family friends of the Gore's. "
Well, he may be a Gore clone but the last I heard it was still Citizen Gore and President Bush.

Question: Does this mean their supporters stay home in November?

Majette's not all that liberal. She's a democrat, but she's fairly middle of the road and has surprising views on some hot button issues (she's lukewarm at best on affirmative action, for example, and she opposes reparations.)
You cannot be a state court judge in a metro Atlanta county and remain a liberal. As Exhibit "A": Charles L. Weltner, who was the very liberal congressman from the 5th District (downtown Atlanta) for many years. Refused to run on the same ticket with Lester Maddox and resigned his seat. He was absolutely the most liberal man I knew growing up (he used to be my dad's law partner). After he resigned, the governor got him an appointment on the bench in Atlanta. After a few years of dealing with pimps, drug addicts, armed robbers, murderers, and assorted riff-raff, you would have thought he was Attila the Hun. He eventually rose to the GA Supreme Court, where he handed out some solid conservative opinions (including an impassioned defense of the death penalty and a spirited dissent in a prosecution under the Wildlife act for moving freshwater crappie from a private pond, in which he noted that the law as written would prevent "taking a goldfish to school for show and tell or hauling a blue tick hound in a pickup truck.")
I rest my case. :-D

Let us hope. Then again Clinton gets higher marks as to ability to handle the aftermath of 9/11 than Bush. Go figure.

Maybe more than just a chance.
Many are so damned sick of the lies, the spin, the crapola and pure outright hate-spew from the likes of Carville etc., the whining of the rapist Clinton, the overbearing attitude of the "royalist she-monster" of Hillary Clinton, etc., etc.
Even the baby boomers who loved the challenge of the lie-fest and got away with it are now figuring out that the likes of CEOs and their underlings are either going to a real prison or are running from the authorities, or are beginning to kill themselves.
That era of Clintonism and its accompanying lies has run its course.
The only ones who are continuing to whine and bitch are the obvious ones...the gays, the disparate women and environmental groups, all those who "feel left out", and damn should be, for they serve no purpose for the majority of the American people...

He was 40 when we got married, and it was his first marriage. 37 here, otherwise ditto.

You lose Billy... L-E-W-S! Great line!
To: Engine82
According to the AJC, Noel is a member of the Sons of the Confederacy, joining when he was in high school. He can't be all that bad.

I concede that Majette may be a maverick.the proof will be in monitoring her voting record next year.
I hadn't heard Weltner's name since high school!Amazing how many people are stored in hidden places in my mind

It's a primary run-off for a State Representative seat. Not a general election.

Question: Does this mean their supporters stay home in November? We sure hope so. It's our only chance to get rid of Max Cleland in the U.S. Senate. Max is *WAY* too socialist for Georgia.

Amen!

My husband was five days away from his fortieth on our wedding day. I was no spring chicken myself (thirty-three). Both heterosexuals--just wanted to have fun in our twenties. The partying drive seems to have left us--now our baby daughter is the only entertainment we need! More people should wait to marry--it'll prevent a lot of mid-life crises. I don't feel I missed out on anything.
