Washington - In coming days, US President George W Bush will present "extensive" new evidence that Iraqi President Saddam Hussein is preparing to deploy weapons of mass destruction, The New York Daily News reported on Tuesday.
"There's a vast volume of evidence on a multitude of fronts," an administration official told the newspaper. "It runs the gamut of all his weapons of mass destruction, and the new activity since 1998 has been extensive."
Iraq is doing "a whole lot more" than just seeking aluminium rods to enhance the weapons-grade uranium needed to build nuclear weapons, officials told the Daily News.
The White House plans to show Congress some of the evidence, which includes satellite photos of several sites in Iraq. The newspaper said it was unclear how much information could be shared with Congress without compromising intelligence sources.
"If you brief 535 members of Congress, ... you're likely to have a leak in very short order," vice-president Dick Cheney said in an interview broadcast during The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer on Monday.
"We are certainly going to share a good deal of information with selected members of Congress," he said.
Bush is likely to present new evidence against Iraq when he addresses the United Nations General Assembly on Thursday.
"This is his best opportunity to address the international community on this threat," an official said. "He will take full advantage of it."
Bush met on Monday with Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien, who reserved support for a US invasion of Iraq until he hears Bush's UN speech and until Bush seeks UN backing.
"I want him to go and have an international coalition with the UN," Chretien said.
So you give 535 DIFFERENT pieces of information out...therefore pinpointing the leak....easy fix.
Bingo! Straight out of the mole-hunter's handbook. This should have been done months, if not years ago, and should be SOP going forward.
Individual briefings are not difficult to arrange, and each one of them should be "laced" with a nice, unique tidbit that would tempt a leaker to spill it. If it comes out, proceed to do a couple of *completely* ficticious briefings (with some really wild stuff in them) with the suspect, using different briefers (and now including FBI agents) and see if the bogus info comes out.
If it does, then haul the rat bastid up on charges, and make damn sure it's all over the press.
Problem solved!

I'm not sure. When he dresses up in his 1776 knickers and starts talking about Letters of Marque and Reprisal, I tend to tune him out.
Absolutely brilliant!
