CBS' Scott Pelley isn't the first person to observe that in a world of grays, President Bush sees mainly black and white. But Pelley says there are aspects about Bush's personality that might surprise some people during the president's only TV interview this Sept. 11 anniversary week -- on 60 Minutes II Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

"He was a socialist yet I still give him props for not caving in like our political leaders of today."

Yeah, like he did at Yalta you mean?

Wphile, thank you for the ping.

Pelley was a CBS correspondent in Dallas for years, some of them overlapping Bush's time as Governor. Perhaps Bush has reason to trust him.

If America possessed only a tenth of the hatred toward our Islamic enemies that they have toward us -- their countries would have been turned to glass by now.

I don't believe President Bush was referring to "our Islamic enemies" when he said that.

If you didn't shed some tears over 9/11, then you ain't human. The day of attacks I was so angry I went outside and screamed at the top of my lungs "Wake up America, wake up America, wake up America, wake up America!".

Thanks so much for the ping and the info. I will surely be watching. I hope a lot of others do too.

There is something about George Bush that I think many of us have felt all along. It has nothing to do with agreeing with him 100% or "drinking the Kool-aid" as some accuse, but it has to do with the man, himself.

I believe that he is a sincerely good soul and in such vivid contrast to his predecessor for a reason.

It sounds as if this broadcast will show the man and his genuine emotions that make him much like each of us. I think it is reassuring.

I'm perplexed this POTUS would grant SeeBS this interview.

Genuinely stumped.

...only hope he realizes what kinda worms he's dealing with at that lousy outfit.

It will be a wonderful interview, I'm sure. However, watch for the articles the following morning. They will disect the viewership of the interview and compare it to the percentage that watched the other networks - to show that "not that many people cared"...that's what they did after his State of the Union speech. Grrrrrr...

"In times like this, people look to the president for someone with strength and self-control."

I believe Dubyuh has projected both traits admirably for the last year...MUD

You are (unfortunately) probably right, W4T. The liberal media still has it's agenda and a brief hiatus is just that.

But many pleasures are gone as quickly as they arrive and we have to learn how to enjoy the moment. I can ignore the comments that follow. :)

The statements President Bush makes are for two reasons:

1. To calm the moderate Muslims and keep them on the sidelines.

2. To prevent lynch-mob mentality in the general population, which would hurt innocent people and which would inflame moderate Muslims. It also would divert police to calming riot situations.

I realize that people are tired of hearing this, but would you think it a good idea for him to announce that all Muslims are under suspicion? We would have a big problem here if he did that.

Patience and understanding of the stakes involved are needed by all of us.

how do you know FDR didn't cry when he was angry--they wouldn't even show his wheel chair in those days.

If you've never cried when you were angry, you've never been truly angry.

Boy-that is sure the truth! Never really thought of it in those terms, but understand and agree completely upon reflection. Real anger brings tears.

Many thanks for the FYI! Will we all have a lot to discuss or what? (Methinks there will be some rabid liberal responses to this interview...hehe...love it when those creeps expose themselves. It's a kind of 'the emporer has NO clothes on' kind of moment! :^)
