CBS' Scott Pelley isn't the first person to observe that in a world of grays, President Bush sees mainly black and white. But Pelley says there are aspects about Bush's personality that might surprise some people during the president's only TV interview this Sept. 11 anniversary week -- on 60 Minutes II Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

At least Pelley has enough sense to realize that Pres. Bush's staying on Air Force One last Sept. 11th was justified. I cannot believe how many people got upset by that. Don't they realize that's what he was SUPPOSED to do? I believe it's called protocol.

I was infuriated by the mediots who kept announcing where he was!!! D___ them!

Good point. Great leadership skills require delegation of authority.

I'm delighted the president has given this interview. All the liberal viewers of 60 Minutes will see how a REAL man reacts to America's threat. What a contrast to a cock-sure punk like Clintoon!

Odd how so many are unable to see this ploy for what it is. It is as you describe, and for those very reasons. Can you imagine him on the telly spouting off something like "Islam is hate" or "muslims are murderers"??? Not only would he be inciting riot, he would be blasted as a bigot who has painted an entire people with the same brush.

Well, call me a cock-eyed optimist, but I believe we will survive, precisely because we have a Constitution and a history of freedom.

You go ahead and dig your bunker. I am willing to support the President and fight.

What you have really shown is that you are simply interested in painting a doom and gloom approach to things. When I give logical reasons for the President's actions, you have back-pedalled into understanding why he did it, but saying that the country is doomed.

Glad you aren't in MY foxhole!

One of my all-time favorite photos. Much more powerful, in my opinion, than the one where the three firemen raised the flag. The latter was a way too self-conscious mimic of the great Iwo Jima photo. The symbolism of the President of the United States standing on the still-fresh and smoking rubble with a flag raised over his head and a bull-horn in his hand is timeless. This flag and this nation bows to no one.

Thanks for the ping, Ohio. I plan on watching this, and I hope it doesn't turn into a hit piece.

I distrust the media so much, that I would not put it past them to publicize the interview in a positive light, have Bush supporters watch, then throw in a zinger.

Maybe I will be pleasantly surprised, but I'm not holding my breath. Even a 9/11 remembrance would not deter them.

You are so right. That speech President Bush gave is the most memorable of his young Presidency. I have the last portion of it on my FR homepage. The link to it follows http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2001/09/20010914-2.html

It depends on circumstances and conversation surrounding the "pounding on the desk" ..sometimes its justified. IT's people "who jump to conclusions" that rarely understand a fine man as intense as President Bush. Even JESUS overturned the tables of the money changers in the Temple, with justifiable anger. Don't judge before you have the facts is a good 'rule of thumb'.

AND 'the fact they never watch, or learn' says enough about their intelligence (or lack of it) to keep them out of politics.

Sorry, I don't see any gray areas when it comes to the 9-11 terrorists and I'm glad that Bush, unlike that idiot Walter Cronkite, does see things in black and white. Although Cronkite would have us believe that the 9-11 attacks were caused by poor countries being mad at evil rich USA, the 9-11 terrorists were mostly a bunch of rich Saudi brats. And their ringleader, Osama, came from a family worth billions.

Glad you posted that. It was at the Ron Brown funeral. Clinton was joking and laughing with that guy (who turned out to be a mental case preacher---honest) but the moment Clinton spotted the camera he INSTANTLY began shedding fake tears. That was the best video capture of total phoniness I have ever seen. A classic.

Correct. Walking up to Ron Brown's funeral. Laughing, sees cameras, wipes away tears.

You forgot to add that after that phony wiping of tears, Clinton did a quick glance at the camera to check to see if it was still on him. This act of phoniness ranks right up there with his beach dance with Hillary (while NO music was playing) to take the heat away from the upcoming Paula Jones testimony. I bet he hasn't touched Hillary since then.

FDR couldn't afford to Being as his global politcal strategy resulted in Pearl Harbor.

A mama's boy who was as devious and dishonest as a certain Arkansas boy of questionable parentage we recently had as President.
