He made some comment at the start of the military campaign in Afghanistan, suggesting we weren't going to be successful. Obviously, Walter Cronkite is not paying attention to what the leadership of terror groups have to say about why they are conducting terror against the infidels.

Terrorists believe that Islam has been humiliated by a culture and religion inferior to Islam. It is their duty to wage jihad -- a holy war to throw off that culture and restore Islam to the glory and honor that it should have. It is their duty to convert the world by the sword to Islam. If, and this is a big if, they decide to be merciful to the conquered, then we may be allowed to keep our religion, but we will be regulated to dhimmi status. Our lands taken, our property taken, our children taken to be raised as good Muslim.

I changed channels when it became apparent he was there to bash Bush and the war. He blamed our foreign policy but neglected to mention it was Clinton who was hung in effigy right after the attacks. These countries are self-induced poor because their governments won't give them the freedom to be productive and move about. They watch us in envy at our supposed splendor, which they get their share, but don't seem to mind that their own leaders and sheiks are richer than most of our richest people. They lavishly squander money and are vulgar with the riches afforded them through oil. Indeed, they need us more than we need them. Those rich oil sheiks could not survive if they were brought down to a median level.
