Question about Bill Frist (vanity)

Senator Frist, current head of the NRSC and transplant surgeon, is obviously a capable individual with an excellent political resume. But my recollection is that he is not a conservative, certainly not pro-life.

Is that correct?

What's your problem with Frist? He is not up for re-election and doing a great job at NRSC so why don't you just take your remarks elsewhere -- they add nothing to the Take Back the Senate drive. As the poster pointed out his ACU record is excellent!

In the future please check facts, before posting such rhetoric that could become inflamatory! Sen Frist is a conservative. But then there are days around here with the post of yours that I wonder if I am a conservative!

just checking....here's the scoop. Some folks are talking about Frist for Pres. In the back of my head, I had heard that he is not pro life. Looking at the ACU, I can't confirm that.

My thought is that if the R's take back the Senate - this looks possible, indeed, probable - then Frist's stature is certainly enhanced.

Maybe he's our guy in '08.

But if he is not pro life, he can't be the Republican nominee.

Any thoughts on the senator's future? I think America would love to vote for a surgeon....especially against Hillary.

But she's gotta become either Defense or State boss in the meantime. How about Powell steps down after Bush re-election, and Rice gets the promotion?

Used to be that the Secretary of State was the presumptive nominee of the party, at least in the 19th century. Perhaps with Condi we can revive that!

Or Vice President. No disrespect to Mr. Cheney, but he is not likely to run in 2008 and the VP slot can be effectively used to groom a successor.

I would suggest someone from the West. Perhaps Senator Jon Kyl of Arizona, who seems to be reliable enough.

Rice would be brilliant because in the debates Hillary could not pull her "hurt little woman" routine as she did on Rick Lazio. Plus it would thoroughly confuse the minority vote.

clearly there is no way that he can run in '08 b/c of health.

so i don't think the VP slot is going to be open...though it would be helpful for Rice to be in a national campaign, that's for sure

Frist is an exceedingly decent man with great compassion for the least of us. His humanitarian work in the Sudan has been outstanding.

Not necessarily. Health reasons could be cited as a reason to sideline him and give Condi the job.

I merely threw Kyl out there because one, he is a Westerner, and two, reasonably conservative. I don't know that much about Owens, to make a fair assessment of him.

Sen Frist is not the best on TV politician. He's come a long way from when he started though, which was pretty stiff looking. Other than that he is as conservative as they make them. He's more conservative that the retiring Fred Thompson, at least Sen Frist knows perjury when he hears it.

If it were a choice between Frist for VP or Condi I'll take Condi.
