I just finished a B.A. in history last year at a liberal university (is there any other kind?) The total absence of critical thinking and logic is appalling in universities...and from professors no less! For example, many will tell you, "there is no absolute truth" <---- is it possible to make a more self-stultifying statement than this? That's like saying, "everything I say is a lie" or "I can't speak a word of english."
I believe it is a moral problem, not a philosophical one. RElativists do not want to acknowledge truth exists or that moral absolutes exist becuase then they would be accountable for their actions.
We also see here the other side of the "separation of church and state" coin. Not only does non-religious government protect the freedom of individual conscience, it also deprives the State of the use of religious rationales and propaganda as buttresses for its whims and decrees.

Maybe so. But a refusal to attack the psychopath of Iraq at this time would almost certainly open the gates of hell in the U.S. a few years from now.
Even if the present scenario gets bad, the alternative is immeasurably worse.
(How does 100 or so suitcase nukes hidden in the U.S. sound?)
